Description

Option 1 is basically do nothing and would be very unpopular with leaf fans. Trading johnsson kappanen or kerfoot for a top 4 dman is going to be next to impossible. This option 1 is in my opion the most likley plug holes and let the chips fall where the may. Patients might still be the best thing for the organization. Maybe not Dubas tho

Option 2 would be trade johnsson kappanen or kerfoot for cap space in a strategic salary dump situation to a team with cap space like ott or njd for a pick or several picks and use the room to hit the ufa market in search of a dman. This isnt ideal due to the fact that the leafs are not maximizing their asset. Again patients might be the best option. Trading any of these three players for a top 4 daman isnt likley going to happen.

Forget Ceci…..trade Johnsson for a prospect or pick and sign DeMelo…..defense is way better

Ya can keep johnsson and still sign DeMelo. Basicly u can keep everyone and sogn Demelo instead of Ceci. Thats 100% fine but really "way better" regardless of what leaf fans are saying Ceci is and will be an NHL dman for several more years. Hes just a 1 to 2 mill dollar dman not a 4.5 mill dman and dman like him are in the ufa market every year in abundance. Im also not on the one leaf player whipping boy per year train so i actually look at Cecis game and see a guy who could excel in a bottom 6 role and th numbers prove this. However im not going to get stuck on a depth dman sign him or anyone else for all i care.

well he's not signing DeMelo with what he has left in cap space.....i'd rather keep Liljegren on 3rf pairing instead of Ceci…..and I do agree he was used incorrectly as he is not a top 4 guy but was paid as one......he is a 6th or 7th D for close to minimum
