It absolutely would be Okposo that's bought out. There is no other option for the Sabres. If you have the option to get rid of the $6M fourth-line winger or the $9M top-six winger, you free up cash on the bottom end of your roster every damn day.

Need more money in order to afford the roster? Flip Hutton to a team expected to be garbage next season for a B-prospect or a late pick. Don't sign Ennis or Talbot to double the amount they're worth. Johansson is very easily tradeable.

Meh I don't think there is that clear an answer between Skinner and Okposo I definitely think its close but Skinner only has 4 more points than Okposo this year I understand its a horrendous year for Skinner but 9 mil for 6 years is awful 3 mil more than Okposo 3 more years on the deal.

The whole team stunk up front outside of Eichel. Skinner is four years younger and Okposo's had two seasons of production below his dollar value. Skinner could rebound, Okposo won't. Don't overthink this. If you found Skinner a proper #2C to play with or left him with Eichel, he'd be closer to being worth what he signed for (which was an overpay, nothing changes that). Okposo will never amount to being a $6M player for the remainder of his deal. This is a very, very simple decision.

So you buyout an elite goal scorer who had 1 bad year and you go trade for Brian Little?
