Acting like Heiskanen hasn't done anything but thrive for the Stars is some galaxy-brain level thinking.

You forgot to take out oleksiak, and if you do I’d much rather take heiskanen over Pettersson

Heiskanen is a stud, and way more value to this Dallas team than Petersson would be. You really want Oleksiack in the top 4?

Heiskanen is slowly becoming one of the best, if not the best d-man of modern hockey.

I'd rather take him over Pettersson.

Also we would've never traded Jamie Benn. He is our captain, won Art Ross and until 2018 had been TOP5 LW in the league, possibly TOP3.

Heiskanen is great but lets slow down... hes certainly not in the conversation for best D in the league. Hes not even best D in his draft class. I agree with you on Benn though

Not yet. In 5 years I'd expect him to be a constant Norris candidate.

As for his draft class, I think he's the best. Makar's great too, but I don't see him being as sound defensively as Heiskanen is.

Makar isn’t as good. Makar is flashy with his skating and puts up more points. That’s really it. Heiskanen is miles ahead defensively and way more rounded

Of course stars fans would say that. But when looking at their underlying numbers, not only does makar produce more offence, but he’s actually more sound defensively. While advanced stats aren’t everything, this combined with Makar being much better on the eye test and putting up way more point, he’s clear cut better than heiskanen. It’s not a knock on heiskanen, he’s still a very good D. But Makar and Petterson both are better players.

I dunno about how accurate is that source of yours.

Hockey-reference.com shows them being quite even both offensively and defensively, but the biggest difference is the zone starts for each players. According to them, Makar's offensive zone starts are 10% higher than Heiskanen's, so it's not a miracle he has more points. Heiskanen is used more as a defensive D-man than Makar is.

They don’t wanna know this tho cause it won’t fit their narrative. Heiskanen is the superior one as of now

Nah. I can fully understand why people think Makar's the better one. I personally view Heiskanen as the better one, but it might be due to my personal bias.

Nah man. Makars defensive game is behind Heiskanen. Makar is also extremely sheltered compared to Heiskanen

Tbh it’s almost the exact same argument with Dahlin/Heiskanen
