Why... ERod isn't much worse, if at all, and had adjusted really well really fast to this system

I just think another high faceoff percentage guy that’s good defensively would be ideal.

Why did you buyout Johnson? I really don’t understand the hate he gets. It’s been blown way out of proportion by typical fans like you making him the scapegoat. In his prime, he was an all star defenseman who was selected to represent USA at the Olympics and World Cup. He may not be the same player he was but he is still damm effective. He leads all Penguins defensemen in hits & blocks. You’ve gotta keep in mind he plays with Letang & Schultz whom are both fully offensive minded defensemen yet have no idea how to play without the puck. That’s why he concedes so many shots. Honestly, Johnson’s contract isn’t even that bad. There are many other teams that have way worse players making way more, like Mitch Marner of Toronto.

I hate the cap hit and PO Joseph was gonna make expendable anyways.

I don’t think Joseph will be anywhere near as good as Johnson. JJ was the third overall pick of his draft yet you think a 17th overall pick can replace him? You may not like his cap hit but JJ is making a reasonable amount for a serviceable top 4 Defender. He leads the team’s blue line in hits & blocks, he’s doing a good enough job. Trust me, you’re better off keeping him.

you copied and pasted that from another post and my reaction is still the same. JJ is simply not effective in the penguins system. He is not fast and not a good puck mover. this isn't his prime, and speed won us championships.

You're joking right? Chicago fan? would you like us to trade him to you? like seriously, if you like him that much. sure he brings hits/blocks but I value moving the puck out of our zone and into theirs a whole lot more. He's not a serviceable top-4 defender. he is an ok #6 Dman on his best day who's a good PKer. Im not a JJ hater but I recognize he doesn't fit with the team. If he played in a sheltered role on a slower more defensive team that might work a little better.

Well by that logic it looks like Jared Cowen should replace Kris Letang 😂

I would take JJ in a heartbeat on the Hawks. He would be our best defender along with Murphy. You Pens fans are really ungrateful & spoiled. There are so many worse players in the league, yet you insist on running him out of town. Wasn’t it your fan base that ran Reaves out of town too?

Don’t even compare him to Cowen. That guy took too many hits to the head & couldn’t skate. JJ is miles better.
