Trouba instead of DeAngelo no CBOFlat

Created by: fluff118
Team: 2020-21 New York Rangers
Initial Creation Date: Apr. 22, 2020
Published: Apr. 22, 2020
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Trades seem fair enough. Might need to add mid round pick going to CGY.

Doesn't block any future Rangers from the roster (One of Craig/Maroon sits in the press box while one of Barron, Pajuniemi, Khodorenko possibly plays up)

Braun is a 1yr deal so Lundkvist comes up when he's gone.

Now the Rangers have the pieces they need to potentially trade up in the draft, or just keep the picks.

And they have pieces they can trade in the future depending on how players work out in Lindgren, Rykov, Bennett, Lemieux, Andersson, Hajek.

Consider me extremely surprised if Trouba waives his NMC to return to Canada.

Granted if it's a draft day deal it wouldn't mean anything.

Correct...it has to be a draft day deal, because 1) I don't think he waives between July 2nd 2020 and whenever his NMC moves to MNTC, and 2) the trade includes 2020 1st coming back.

I agree he doesn't want to be in CAN, but is the value at least correct assuming that wasn't a factor?

Yeah, kinda hopeful on my part as I'm a fan and would love to have him. Salary negotiations: he's getting older; however, box stats, advanced stats, and demand on the market probably drive it up. There are other options though, like Janmark or Boyle, amongst several others.

Value is close, but CGY can't afford this. Trouba alone costs more than what CGY is giving up, and re-signing Strome is also going to be costly.

D-pairings consisting of...
Giordano-Trouba
Välimäki-Andersson
Kylington-one of the UFAs they should re-sign
...should be pretty interesting

calgary does not need trouba if cbo's are granted they can buy out lucic and build a dcore without spending 8mill on 1 guy. Trouba got overpaid and calgary can do much better

If the cap remains flat Calgary roughly has $17 million to sign 10 players, The last thing Calgary can afford is a RD Jacob Trouba making $8 million per for another 6 seasons. Besides fat chance of Trouba winding up anywhere near Canada again. Outside of New York the only other team he would agree to go was hometown Detroit but since his future wife is going to be a Dr in New York City that's where he chose to go. Calgary is a no go and they can't afford Trouba.
