Sens already have 1D, and Drysdale is not a 1D imo. Rather have Rossi/Raymond/Holtz then go D in the late 1st and 2nd round.

Gunler/Mysak would be a steal at 21, Cormier would be a nice pick as well, and of Villeneuve is available, he'd be a great pick at 52

Just to put this into perspective,
Drysdale in PPG in the OHL almost like Doughty and pushes to imitate the same playing style and game, making a phenomenal pair with Chabot that contends with a pairing like Werenski-Jones.
Picking Lukas Cormier is like Col picking Samuel Girard, both players had the same gameplay and his notes illustrate Girard 2.0 clearly, I see him going round 1 but he's a dream at 33
Picking Ryan O'Rouke, the captain of the Soo Greyhounds is like St. Louis Blues selecting Vince Dunn and has amazing leadership skills for a team like Ott. Him and Tkachuk are culture changing players.
William Villeneavu has an amazing two way game and has bottom pairing potential, he's like Chabot but wont play big minutes in his career. Even if he doesn't make the NHL, the Belleveau Sens have a number one D.
Michael Benning is Cale Makar with no goal-scoring sense, he can bust or turn into Makar. Michael Benning has 75 pts in 54 games in the AJHL. Makar had 75 pts in 54 games in the AJHL. He's two inches shorter and played on a similar team.

                With everything going perfect
                Chabot-Drysdale
                Brannstrom-Benning
                Cormier-Bernard Docker

is the future of the Senators D corps

They have two very good RD prospects in Thomson and JBD. JBD in particular I think has top pair upside, he's such a smart player with no real flaws in his game.

I think there are several RHD available that have legitimate top 4 upside in the 2nd and late 1st. Obviously Drysdale is the premier D prospect, but I don't see him as a great fit for what Ottawa needs. He's a 2/3D who can run a power play. Ottawa doesn't need a guy to run the power play. What they need is more elite front line forwards.

They have Tkachuk, and Batherson who has an elite upside, then Norris who is probably more of a David Krejci type. Then it's mostly 2nd and 3rd line guys. Even if they get Byfield, I'd still think they'd need another elite forward to eventually put them over the edge into Boston/Toronto/Tampa tier of forward cores.

Then you add can swing like crazy and pick up a bunch of really good RHD prospects who can fill out the top six.

Ya I see your point. The thing I like about RHD is that they they are in very high demand and are very easy to trade.

The mistake Toronto made was too many guys up front and not enough good defensemen. St. Louis doesn't have amazing forwards but their D line is stacked.

Either way though Ottawa can't really go wrong.

Why not just pick up Chaz Lucius with our top pick next year, Hes a right handed Kyle Connor

Ottawa's defense is in a way better state than Toronto's was when they started their rebuilding. Toronto had Reilly, and like, Connor Carrick.

Also for the I would be absolutely fine with Ottawa taking Drysdale. He's not the guy I would pick, but he's still pretty sick.

So the sens have almost too many picks in this draftt. I wouldn't be shocked to see them move that late first or early second for a player or even for picks next draft.

I'm having a strong urge to say Sens will have Pick 3 and 5 maybe, then trade their 21st overall pick, their own 2nd round 33rd pick, and Islanders pick for the Florida 14th Overall Pick.
                So they have 3rd, 5th, 14th, 46th, and Dallas 2nd round pick
They get Stuetzle, Holtz/Raymond, and Jake Sanderson
