Only added Kovy because of the fact that he said he really loved it on MTL. He's also said that money is important. I would personally not resign him if I'm MB, just cause I don't think he could sustain the enthusiasm he showed this year for all 82 games next year. As for DeMelo, he would certainly add great depth to our right side, he's by no means a top 4 d-man on most teams. Sure, someone else might overpay to get him but coming off a $900K/year contract, there no way he gets more than $3M per year. The reason for Domi at one year is quite simple. He's an RFA, so MTL has control. His attitude was **** this year when Julien tried him on the wing to give time at C to Suzuki. If Domi stays in MTL long term, it will be at LW and not C. If I'm the Habs, I'm not giving Domi a long term deal until he can show that he's a true team player and provides an honest effort for 82 games. At the most, I could've given him two years but not more than that. If things pan out like MTL wants them to, our centers will be as follows in 2-3 years time; 1C - Suzuki, 2C - Kotkaniemi, 3C - Danault.

Detroit is happy with Bernier and a AHL player and 4th rd draft pick doesn't make up the difference in skill between him and Lindgren.

Who would you rather have, Spurgeon or Brodin? The answer to that question should be Spurgeon.

Now question 2, who is another 5'9" Defensman, like Spurgeon who is ahead of a 22 year old spurgeon at only 21 yrs old? The answer to that question is Mete.

Question 3. Why trade Mete, already a young top 4 D, with Poehling who projects as a great #3C, and add draft picks for Brodin who will soon be a UFA?

Minnesota if they’re moving one of their top 4 d is going to be looking for a C that can play top 6, imo it’s the only thing they are willing to trade those guys for. I think they would be willing to add to the trade to get that C, not for an assortment of potential and non essential parts.
But that’s from a fan of another central division team.

Fair enough, I think the value is more than enough, from a MTL perspective I would be really disappointed with this trade, however that doesn't mean it works for MIN either.
