Yeah I mean it was pretty quick for Fox to cement himself as a #1 dman and for Deangelo to confirm he's a legit offensive powerhouse too lol.

But Rangers have a long storied history of trading players right before their NTC/NMC kicks in, it's something players know whenever they sign here. And Trouba gets to stay in the NY market and finally run a PP like he was initially signed to do.

In terms of prospects, Jones led all D+1 Dmen in the NCAA in pts/gm, easily outpacing Cam York. He was the PP QB for the US at the WJC. and he's a top 75 prospect in all of hockey. You can easily equate him to a mid-late 1st.

Everyone is raving about Jesse Puljujarvi's season in Finland, he put up 24 goals in 56 games. That's almost a goal every other game and he did that at 21 years old.
Lauri Pajuniemi just put up 26 goals in 49 games. That's quite literally better than a goal every other game and he did that as a 20 year old in the same league.....

From a Dallas perspective - We'd listen on both players, but we're not moving both for a 2nd in 2021. My thought on cost would be a 2nd in 2020 for Faksa (which we'd accept), and a 4th in 2021 would be acceptable for Oleksiak (we'd also accept). Also, if any interest in Honka, 4th rd'er would do the trick!

I don't think we'd give another pick for those 2. more likely a prospect. And no, our system is simply at the brim with D prospects, we're not taking anymore. The most I could sway the deal would be to add a boom or bust guy like Sean Day.

I don't think anyone is going to give you a 2020 2nd for Faksa. Surely a 3rd. But Faksa's defensive metrics have not looked nearly as glowing as they did 2-3 seasons ago. Rangers don't have a 2020 2nd anyway.

From our perspective, we could just simply sign Johan Larsson for probably less than Faksa will cost as a UFA, who has done the Faksa thing better than Faksa over the past 2 seasons. And it wouldn't cost us a draft pick.

I disagree on Faksa. He is easily a top 10 as a defensive center, and Dellandrea might not be ready for the jump. I think he would pull NYR top pick in the coming draft if we are betting on Ty. With NYR depth in prospects, I could actually see a pick and prospect scenario. Personally though, I don’t see a fit with a Dallas (Faksa) trade with the NYR.

Oleksiak is a solid 5/6. Not too bad for the price. Though Harley is coming up soon, I’d keep him for another season at least.

If we get a 4th for Honka, I’d be happy.

Not sure what's in the water over there in Dallas. Faksa has been quite literally league average defensively over the last 2 seasons (he was slightly below league average last year, and slightly better this year). He was* a top defensive C, but that hasn't been the case since around 2017.

Here's a sampling of C's who have outperformed Faksa defensively on the ice over the last 2 seasons....

Johan Larsson
Joel Eriksson Ek
Anthony Cirelli
Ryan O'Reilly
Jordan Staal
NIck Bonino
Lucas Wallmark
Barclay Goodrow
Patrice Bergeron
Derek Ryan
Alex Kerfoot
Blake Coleman
JT Compher
Philip Danault
Tyler Bozak
Andrew Copp
David Kampf
Charlie Coyle
Elias Lindholm
Kevin Hayes
Adam Lowry
Brock Nelson
Joe Thornton
Pierre-Edouard Bellemare
Ryan Carpenter
Sidney Crosby
Mikael Granlund
Noel Acciari
Riley Sheahan
Colin White
Jean-Gabriel Pageau
Paul Stastny
Adam Henrique
David Krejci
Eric Staal
Elias Pettersson
Nicklas Backstrom

And there's about 30 more in addition to that.

So yeah....Faksa maybe gets a 3rd..this trade was meant to be easy accept for you guys.

Alternative is Rangers give you a 4th for Oleksiak and we just sign Johan Larsson for cheaper than Faksa....

Like I said, I don’t see a fit with this trade. I value him as a third line center, which seems to be the case for you. Of all players you chose him. You could just trade for any of the other players on the list. He’s cost efficient and dependable defensively. He can be locked up long term with this contract year.

And I still believe he is a top 10 defensive center.

Also, he’s worth more alone than a 2021 second, especially in a year where UFA/RFA centers are thin. On top of that, 2021 doesn’t seem like it’s shaping up to be a great draft year. So, I stand by the belief that his value alone is far greater than the offer.
