Deangelo defensive game is inexistant. He is a Gosthisbhere 2.0 lot of offensive skill but you don’t want him to take defensive zone attribution. Not as much value then you think. He barely played 19 minutes this years.

It’s not that his defensive game isn’t there it’s just trouba and fox have a better defensive game so deangelo gets 1pp

Deangelo had a better point / gm rate than everyone on Calgary except Tkachuk and Gaudreau. Those also happen to be the only 2 players on Calgary I'd consider trading Deangelo for (assuming Johnny got an extension)

You can't trade Trouba to Canada. But for Hanifin, you can do like a Strome + 1st thing.

tbh Tony for Tkachuk is close but Rangers don't need top 6 LW.

You wouldn't trade for Monahan? He seems like he'd be a good fit for the Rangers, doubt Calgary trades him though.

You knownthat he have a grand total of 22 min of shorthanded ice time true 200 nhl games. Is ratio of offensive/defensive start is one of the highest around the league a 60 % of the time in offensive zone ( this year 63,5%). Is takeaways giveaway ratio is terrible he is just not good defensively. No mather how you look at it.

....Deangelo was the 3rd best dman defensively this year while having Marc Staal as a partner. It's tough to illustrate how great this is.

Though Ghost/Deangelo comparison is interesting, if just to illustrate how ridiculous Deangelo is lol...Here's Deangelo this year with Ghost's peak in 17-18. Along with their D partners for context.

All good. xG is expected goals. So xGF is expected goals for and xGA is expected goals against. Think of CF/CA as possession, and xGF/xGA as shot quality.

These charts are RAPM (Real Adjusted Plus Minus) which basically takes players on-ice metrics, adjusts them while weighting for things like 1) Zone Starts, 2) Quality of Competition 3) Score, etc. and then displays them relative to league average. It doesn't, however, account for linemates....which matters a lot. So basically the fact that Staal is absolutely horrible at both ends, and Deangelo is one of the better dmen in the entire league is pretty amazing.
