Who in their right mind would trade a top 4 D, 2nd line two way forward, and a top 10 pick (Or Dach) for a $10M Marner? No one. He’s a great player but no chance.

Your team would and 50% of the rest of the league would.

What if the player was Willy Nylander instead of Marner, serious question.

marner is better than nylander, but at the same time nylander also makes 4 mil less and is going to be great contract, and he gets a bad rap fro no reason, for all 3 of those guys its hard to say no but dont know if would accept

marner plays a strong 2 way game and also kills penalties, ill say it again washed was strong and a product of frustration from seeing these marner trades, and i said muprhy is overrated for all the deals that include marner, people on this ite push him to the point of beign considered overrated, and people also include nylander in all these trades thinking him and willy are gonna be the next sedins thinking that makes his value higher

Marner is not a strong 2 way player. Maybe on a weak Leafs forward group who struggles with two way play but to consider Marner a 2 way player in the context of someone like Saad is just incorrect. Marner is a great dynamic player and better then saad no question, but he is not really a 2 way player. Next to the Hawks, I watch the Leafs a fair amount (20 games a year) and would never consider Marner a 2 way guy.

just because he isnt a 2 way forward doesnt mean he doesnt have a a good defensive game, his d game isnt as noticeable becuase of how good he is offensively, like for matthews for example, people are the first to say hes terrible defensively and only cares about scoring but his stats and if you watch him say otherwise, and not say he is this amazing defensive center but he isnt bad by any means at all, their offense outweighs theyre d while saad is the other way around

I think the Leafs would do it if you changed Nylander to either Dach or that Chicago 1st this year.

Value is off on this trade, but no way we get rid of Dach or the 9th pick for Marner. Hawks don't need or want Marner anyways.
