Even then I wouldn't move that pick if I were you.

I mean for Domi I do for sure. The odds of pick 28 becoming as good as Domi are low

They've got 66 millions committed for 2021 and they have nothing really notable to resign so I don't see their expenses going up too much. They could manage.

For domi you would need a top 15 pick so TB's pick would be insufficient.

Thats fine, theres lots of other options. Domi would be nice but no reason to sell the store for a 50 point pace guy

Yeah Krug isn't wasting his time in Montreal, And FYI Montreal can only sign Krug and Hall for 7 years not 8 years and both decline Montreal rather easily.

rangers and islanders have traded their 1st rounders for less which are both 15ish ranks. We don't know yet where the sharks will be during 2021's summer draft. So it's a shared risk.

If Krug doesn't want to waste his time in terms of cups, he'll stay in Boston and win cups for pennies. If he wants to be paid market value who other than MTL can give that to him and stay competitive. If Krug and Hall with the additional of Romanov doesn't get us the 5 wins we were missing to get in the playoffs, I'll concede the point that he would be wasting his time but I think what you have above may be in the top 5 defenses in the league.

Yeah because Bergevin is going to give Krug $9 mil per and Hall $10 mil per. No way i see either happening. Hall wants to be on a contender sorry don't see Montreal as a legit contender even with both Hall and Krug. Weber and Petry are out the door here shortly Weber can't stay healthy and Petry is probably trade bait. Doubt Price ever wins a cup on that roster. Krug and Hall just aren't realistic targets sorry.

I would consider it lottery protected and if Domi signs cheap. But no Alzner

Assuming an even split between salary and signing bonus, that 9 million in MTL is the same as 7.5 (okay, a few bucks north of that) in Boston. I feel like boston would do 7.5, and given the situation, Krug would probably take 7 in Boston vs 9 in Montreal, given that it’s only 100K difference per year or so

Why would Montreal want to pay a one dimensional 60 pt player 10 Million? Let another team overpay for him.

To be precise, the equivalent of 9m in montreal is 8.2m in boston tax wise. But I agree that Krug would probably forget the 700k difference to stay with a contender if boston were to offer him 7.5 . Boston is doing very well at getting RFAs to buy the team's concept of taking salary cuts to keep a strong and stable core.

Lol a 600k difference isn't a few thousands, it's at least a 100 times a few thousands.

Correct. Your numbers are wrong if we’re going off the same parameters. I said if the salary and signing bonus are equal.

Sorry, I fail to understand how the split between signing bonus and salary is going to impact tax rate or overall contract income.

You're going to have to provide more details than that to convince me. I double checked the Boston tax situation and there are no special income tax dispositions regarding bonuses. Actually, the tax rate will increases in boston compared to the numbers I gave (where it does not in MTL) if the signing bonus accounts for the majority of the contract and he would get most of the money in the first year.
