I understand in theory what you're getting at. Eriksson is a high cap hit relative to his actual salary, which could be appealing to a team like Ottawa looking to save money.

Where this falls apart is where you assume Ottawa would be willing to give up a high quality asset in the 33rd overall pick, which makes absolutely no sense. Lockwood and DiPietro are decent prospects, but Ottawa doesn't really need another goalie, and they can get a player of Lockwood's caliber or better with that pick. The Vancouver would absolutely need to add to get Ottawa to take that contract.

Ottawa won't give assets to take on a bad contract, they'll receive

I think they are receiving here, Dipietro and Lockwood are high end prospects. that is a steep price to pay for dumping Salary, so I dont think a 2 and 5 back is unrealistic. As a Canucks fan, I don't know if I like this deal even.

Van would rather eat Loui's money than lose these two. It's a pass from Van. might be a pass from both but it's def a pass from Van.

But Ottawa is set in net they have Gustavsson, Sogard, Hogberg, and Mandolese so Ottawa would ask for a skater and our scouts said they couldn't be happier cuz of their prospects in net.
