I mean... it's something? It's a very lateral move to go from Staal to Toews though, especially at that price.

I also left a lot of expiring contracts the year after to re-sign Svech. I think Toews is significantly better personally

Svech isn't the one that we need to worry about, Dougie is. Staal to Toews is very lateral. Toews has better finish, but Staal is better defensively and in terms of playmaking (analytically). It's lateral because Staal doesn't give up many goals, whereas Toews gives up a little more, but he's got the offensive capability to make up for it. In that sense I think it's lateral.

Would Carolina accept Zadorov for CAR 2020 2nd + McKeown?

Zadorov would be Edmundsen's replacement.

If u look at Carolina they currently have Slavin, Gardiner, Fleury, Skjei, Bean. Why would they want another LHD

I do, do you? Do you look at stats or watch the Hurricanes? You think Staal is a cap dump, or McGinn or Mrazek are cap dumps? I think you need to reconsider your evaluation here.

Please explain how stall=Toews to me. The way i see it is that yes they are both two way forwards. But Toews was ppg pace is 18-19 and had 60 pts in 70 games in 19-20. Toews is the proven playoff performer while steal isn't and toews has 3 cups to his name. Staal is .46 ppg over the past 2 seasons while .82 ppg over the same time. And on top of all that Stall has a much longer injury history.

Staal has a significantly better xGA, xGF and is better statistically in transition. As I said, Toews has better finish, but Staal is better everywhere else on the ice and it's not really close. Toews has been hit hard by regression, it's why his good year this year was so unpredicted by fans and players. Also, Toews plays with some kid named Patrick Kane who is the 2nd best goal scorer in hockey (Ovi). Inflated stats are to be expected, if you put Staal next to Toews, my money would be on Staal getting better results than Toews.

Toews and Kane don't play on the same line..... and also the statement that toews has been "hit hard by regression" doesn't really make sense. These last two seasons have been some of the best of his career.

Not analytically, and I'm gonna go out on a limb and assume Toews and Kane are on the same powerplay unit?

And there's just so much more to Toews game that isn't on the stat sheet that Stall doesn't have.

Like... captaincy? Nope, Staal does that. Leadership? No, Staal's worn a letter here for years.... Ability to come up clutch? Staal scored the tying goal in game 7..... am I missing something?

I saw the proposal in another AGM and figured I would ask a Carolina fans opinion on it here. You're right though that Carolina probably don't need Zadorov, though they always seem to be very active in acquiring defensemen when they're available so I wouldn't rule it out, particularly if they want to trade Gardiner after a poor season.

Even a bad power-play is a power-play. totals inflate on the PP

Just checked. What you're saying still doesn't make sense. Toews had 8 of his 60 points on the power play this season and 23 of his 81 on the power play last year. Stall had 10 of his 27 points on the powerplay this year and 14 of his 28 points on the power play last year. If anything staal's points are inflated way more by the pp than Toew's are. But anyways, I'm done arguing about this. Toews>Stall in my opinion as well as most other people. My mind isn't going to change about that. Have a great day smile
