Super Team

Created by: TheGuyInTheChair
Team: 2020-21 Pittsburgh Penguins
Initial Creation Date: May 20, 2020
Published: May 23, 2020
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Trades:
- Ottawa should probably be trying to contend considering their prospects are graduating to the NHL and in order to do that they need a goalie

- Gallagher is an important piece for the Habs both on the ice and in the locker room which is why we have to overpay a little

- This is based on the Rangers trading Namestnikov to Ottawa meaning Detroit could probably flip Bjugstad for at least a 3rd at the deadline

OTT says no, MTL maybe? Depends how they see their team. My guess is no because they think they can win soon. If not, I could see them making that deal.

I would say no to the Tanev signing. He isn’t having a great season as he’s currently 31% below the league average percentile in overall defensive contributions. Last year he was good & ranked 7% above. To give him 5.5 million is too risky especially with his history of injuries.

I think it’s problematic to have JJ in the top 4. This season he was 45% below the league average percentile in overall defensive contributions though he was mostly playing top pair minutes. Last season, he was 33% below mostly playing bottom pair. Ideally he should not play at all & Riikola should replace him.

I like the Gallagher trade & I think Sheary got too much money. 1.5-2 is fair for him, then you can retain less from Montreal’s side.

I don't see Detroit making that trade. Bjugstad made $315,385 a game or $2.05M a point.

The penguins don't have 5.5 million to hand to tanev even if they did want him.

As for the OTT trade, why would they bother to do this. Hell they need to keep tanking not trading away firsts. another year of tanking and they might have something. Hell if they tank 2 more and get Wright watch out they will be a cup contender.

Rental Gallagher isn't worth 2 1st round picks. So that's that.

The value is definitely there for Gallagher, but I don't think Montreal does it.
