How on earth are Ryan Johansen or Eric Staal better options than Phillip Danault?

You're not getting Werenski for that package nor Kopitar. Need to offer far better deals in both to even entertain the thought of either player.

especially if you try to steal PLDubois in a Offer-sheet like SebAho... 8,4M scream

Since when are those guys “formal 1cs”? (Whatever that means)

If you don’t see Danault as a 1C that’s fine, but it’s hypocritical to say that Johansen and Staal are 1Cs at the same time.

Barkov would be tooooo expensive... or like Eichel who said that he will accept to be trade out! Value would then go down a little... but still toooo expensive.
At D, Leddy would have been great 2 years ago... a for a secong draft pick... it worth to try... but I like the idea on going after Serghachev OS the Bolts 5y x 6M... they can't bridge him for 2 y @ 3M.

I said Barkov would be counterproductive lol.

But yes. Sergachev is that Kobe steak that's suddenly on sale. Not many teams are going to be able to afford is true value (noting a flay cap and flodded UFA market). Ottawa, Jersey, LA maybe and Montreal ..... that's realistically the list. Any one else it would cause financial gymnastics worthy of a gold medal.

Given where 3 of those 4 are now..... I would be picking Montréal in a heartbeat.

Danault 1centre is one reason why we are still OUT of the playoff... not because he is no good... just the wrong chair: They tried with Domi, Drouin, chucky before with still not the result they are looking for.

Than you agree in a year with a 8M/year contract to Danault then... like all the 1C in the NHL...

No. Let him leave. It’s tough but true. He’s a beast but just doesn’t rack up the pp points

MTL is in a weird position where their 2 best players: price and Weber are into the backend of their careers, yet they do have a lot of youth coming up. As of a lot of comments have suggested... IF Suzuki or Romanov or Jk turn into a 1C or 1LHD, by the time that happens Weber and price won’t have much gas left in the tank. Bergavin should’ve blew this roster up years ago and committed to a rebuild

It doesn't happen often but... Hayes, Trocheck, Strome, Duchene, Johansen, O'Reilly, Staal from Carolina to NYR... Need the right fit for $$$ reason that MTL is in a great shape for it!
OS: Cirelli, PLDubois or Sergachev... then team need to let go other valuable player

      Cirelli: OS @ 7M
      Sergachev OS @ 6M
Look what Tampa would look like if you add 11M on their cap...they have 8M space on a roster of 15... PLayer for sale in Tampa: Palat, Killhorn, Johnson, Gourde (20M that need to be shred in accepting these 2 signature & completing their roster of 23

The thing about these pieces is they are all expendable except that 1st round pick.

With how we do, that 1st round pick is super sketchy to trade.

Almost guaranteed Sergachev stays unless OS at about 8-10. Corelli doesn’t do anything for us
