Cirelli explode and played very well finishing at same then Danault... at only 22yo

22, he doesn’t move the needle on the Habs. Worse than danault and about the same as Suzuki and he’s 9lder. And ur Paying 7 mill.
      NO THANKS

MTL is in a weird position where their 2 best players: price and Weber are into the backend of their careers, yet they do have a lot of youth coming up. As of a lot of comments have suggested... IF Suzuki or Romanov or Jk turn into a 1C or 1LHD, by the time that happens Weber and price won’t have much gas left in the tank. Bergavin should’ve blew this roster up years ago and committed to a rebuild

I don’t really see the problem with trying to contend in a few years. Price may or may not still be very good, and if he isn’t it’s no big deal, since we have Primeau. And yeah, we don’t have anyone that could definitely take Weber’s place on RHD, but that’s the only position there are any questions about.

His point is were trying to win with price and Weber but also trying to win with caufield and kk. If bergevin gives out big contracts we might be in some trouble

Sure we might have a bit of cap trouble in 23-24 when Romanov, Ylönen, and maybe Caufield’s ELCs are up, but that’s 3 years from now. Price and Weber will have 3 years left, (including only $3 million total on Weber’s contract) who knows what might happen. But I don’t think that we should tear the team apart because of possible inconveniences 3 years from now.

I'm late, didn't read any of the previous comments, but Danault is significantly better than any of the three C's you listed, and Werenski is only a slight upgrade over what you already have at LD (and Yandle is a massive downgrade)

Weber’s deal is the same price the whole time. U don’t want to have aging players taking up space and time from young kids. If kk and or ns are going to be legit c they need ice time. Same with caufield and this years pick

      This is a refreshing post!

The Habs have some fantastic young players in the system, but the needs you highlight are very clear. So many times I have seen how people talk about Romanov and Mete and Caufield. They just might be that good. But the "rebuild waiting game" has been going on for 3 -4 years.

Now frankly, I do think Suzuki can be a 1C, I think Romanov can be a #1 LD. The issue is - they ain't there. Price is 31. Waiting these guys out has this team in the same spot in 2-3 years imo. Time is now.

      trade Price next year

      Cirelli: OS @ 7M
      Sergachev OS @ 6M
Look what Tampa would look like if you add 11M on their cap...they have 8M space on a roster of 15... PLayer for sale in Tampa: Palat, Killhorn, Johnson, Gourde (20M that need to be shred in accepting these 2 signature & completing their roster of 23

That's kind of my point as to why Sergachev is a prime target. Those are hard contracts to move with a flat cap.

      trade Price next year

Well that would be a solution, but who is taking that contract?

I wasn’t saying that Weber’s cap hit was any less. I also didn’t say that Price & Weber’s roles wouldn’t diminish.

What was the point of saying 3 million?
Meant aging danault, Tatar, and Gallagher

I mean in case he wants to retire / if we’re trading him. And I didn’t say anything about TDG. I’m still not sure what we do with each of them.

Honestly trade them. Get decent value let the kids play and maybe be contenders in 2023-24.
