not to mention Letang is in the 8th percentile in xGA and his shots against ranks in the 30th percentile and he has a horrible penalty deferential so that really hurts his value. Sure letang puts up points but in genera points arent that important, especially for defenseman. letang is much more sheltered with Marino spending a lot of time facing top competition this year whereas ellis is facing top competition and playing with josi. Ellis is far better offensively and still better defensively.

Now looking at just points Ellis has put up the same amount in less TOI. To recap, Ellis is better offensivly, better defensivly and put up the same amount of points in less minutes even though points dont matter that much but you were using points so I will too. I get there is some team bias here but you guys should just take the small L on this one

Yeah that can't be right. I checked their stats and Letang's TOI vs elite players fall in the 84th percentile, Marino 69th. So clearly he is the top defenceman on the team.
