We don’t need Kerfoot who is overpaid. We need not take salary dumps for young players who have been thus far disappointing but still have loads of potential

Sabres decline. Plus Johan Larsson is going to get a lot more than 1.7 million.

kerfoot really isnt overpaid, going to a new team and being with new line mates can either increase production or hurt it. In his case going through 3 new coaches was a struggle but he will easily bounce back. Would rather keep him then have a guy who looks no where near NHL ready and is inconsistent. By the time Mittlestat is ready to take on a full time 3c role will be when Abramov, SDA, or even Adruzze will be ready making his coming pointless. Overall much rather keep the potential bounce back 40point netter than the potential disappointment.

I see him as a 3LW. The Leafs have a very particular roster structure where we want a high-end grinder on every line, right now we have Hyman and Mikheyev. I think Robby would be fine on the 3rd line, assuming we move Johnsson. Kapanen is a tremendously skilled play maker and I could see those 2 (plus whoever at C) becoming unstoppable.

That said I can see Robertson as 25-35 goals, 35-45 assists in a few years if all goes right. The Athletic and scouts say he will likely peak somewhere between Guentzel and DeBrincat.

I'm not discounting Roberston's potential but he's very unlikely to make the jump from OHL to 1st line in 1 year without destroying his development. He probably should be a top 6 player, maybe replace Hyman down the line but not next year, maybe in 2 years

I agree we need to be careful not to ruin his potential, especially considering we have Korshkov/Barabanov/Engvall/Gauthier all fighting for a bottom-6 spot. I think 10-15 minutes a night on the 3rd line would be fine tbh. There's tons of skill on that line and unlike some teams bottom-6 we have a pretty youthful and quick bottom-6.
