- The Coyotes still need Pronger's contract; it's a high cap hit but pays out only league minimum of $575K, allowing the Coyotes to keep real salary low but meet the cap floor. Laich's contract requires $4M in actual salary this year, so the Coyotes wouldn't take that trade.
- lol Polák back to the Sharks? not sure if they're going to bite on that trade twice.
- The Ducks trade isn't terrible. The Ducks would probably want to get out from under Bieksa's contract, with its NMC. He'd have to agree to go to Toronto, though. Not sure if the Maple Leafs want to leave Carrick unprotected, either. He's got a lot of upside, so I understand.

Jvr has alot of value. Hes a huge part of the future so it would have to be a crazy good deal. Fower and a 1st might get it done. Richie and another prospect also might get it done.

Agreed on Pronger. You'd be surprised about polak. They did get to the cup final for the first time. Lol. I agree actually but he may get traded again somewhere. The JVR trade makes sense for both teams I think. We could always buy out Bieksa if Carrack was worth protecting. Plus I think Bozak might get plucked in the expansion. The trade being Centered around JVR and Ritchie works for both teams I think. Risk for both teams but gives Anaheim a couple more kicks at the can.

JVRs value is high and after this year (past the deadline) his value begins to lower. I would prefer to not resign him at 29 for 7million. 6-8yrs. Ritchie seems like a risk both teams might take a chance on. Lots of upside but might not be more then a middle 6 support guy with skill. Toronto has enough skill on the right side to take a risk on this type of player. My thinking anyway.

Very elaborate. Doesn't make sense for either team I guess. Forget the two bull$hit trades, the JVR trade does make sense for a few reasons. Ritchie could be tough skilled LW to play with any of our softer young RW. What other LWr would you target with JVR?

I think Ducks fans got excited when they saw Bieksa's name, but that would never happen because:
a) He has a NMC and won't waive to go to a rebuilding team. He wants to win a Cup.
b) Montour won't just be a throw in to take Bieksa's contract. The Ducks have a huge amount of defensive prospects, but they won't just start throwing them away in random deals for no reason.
c) The Ducks are hoping Ritchie can make huge steps this year and be a 1st or 2nd line LW. He is also cheaper and his ceiling is similar if not higher than JVR
d) Ducks will need Ritchie this year because he is cost controlled and JVR will be looking for $6M+ in his next contract

all very good points. Thank you for the thoughtful comments. Who knows what Bieksa would do but I agree if I was in his position I would prefer a cup contender. I really like Montour and wouldnt see him as a throw in. I just wanted to get another prospect that fit positionally for the leafs and I added Leipsic to further add to the depth on LW for The ducks. I think Liepsic (although small) could play in a middle six roll for ducks sooner then later. And he's also cheap. I agree that Ritchie's upside is high (some of my fellow leaf fans disagree) but it would be what it would take to get a proven 30-30 guy in JVR for 2 years at just over 4 million. And we would be taking Bieksas contract for 2 yrs so that has to be taken into consideration. If not and he's not bought out, Fowler will need to be moved or risk getting exposed. Anyhow thanks for the comments.
