I'd take Makar over fox, so I wouldn't say he's "Priceless."

I just remember watching Makar taking Fox to school in the Frozen Four. Granted UMass was a much better team than Harvard.

TBH. Probably accept not because the Rangers actually accept but to just see how miserable Sabres can get when Fox refuses to report to the Buffalo, voids his contract and comes back to the Rangers. lol

And Eichel isn't? Fox will be a great player but you guys have ADA and Trouba and could survive without him. Eichel would be more impactful on a nightly basis

Ofc, but fox is already our best Dman and has 2 years of ELC left, and eichel is the one whos in trade rumors so realistically the sabres are losing any eichel trade

Nah you're way off dude. Eichel is like the 6th/7th best C in the league. Fox may be the best rangers dman according to you but hes not top 10 at his position. Eichel is a legitimate super star and he has a good contract for a lot more term

I can't believe people think they wouldn't trade Fox for Eichel. That may be the closest reality trade I've seen for Eichel. Value is right, And I think NYR would jump all over that deal, #1Cs are WAY more valuable than 1B defensemen (Fox isn't in the league with Giordano, Hedman, Josi, Werenski, Jones, Pietro, etc).

Fox is very good, but he's not in the Makar/Hughes league (he's probably also below Heiskanen, McAvoy as well). Both of them are doing this with below-average goaltending behind them (Hughes on ice sv % is .855, Makar is .888, Fox is .903 which is league average). Hughes and Makar are also doing this with 3:00+ more minutes a game, while Fox is averaging around 18:30. Fox is almost a year olderand too (which absolutely factors in physically and mentally). Fox would have a low-end 1B ceiling, while Hughes and Makar have 1A ceilings.

Eichel was easily a top 5 C in the league. This season, he's the #6C using Hockey Reference's Point Share system, and #12OA in OPS. And he's outscoring a bunch of top names per game (Matthews, Ovi, Crosby, Marner, Aho, Stone, etc).

I don't think the NYR make that trade because you don't trade legends, and Henrik is a legend in NY. But, a mid 1st round pick, and low 1st round pick, and a 1B dman for a #1C is peanuts.

If you're throwing in the towel and starting your rebuild all over, why would 2 marquee free agents sign in Buffalo? It doesn't matter how much money you throw at them, Krug and Hoffman aren't signing with the Sabres if you are going to go through a painful rebuild.

I mean, just look at that center depth!

Bold statement, not a guarentee. He wasn't even the best rookie defenseman this year at 21. Maybe hes top 20-25 end of his ELC and could at some point in his career be a top 10 dman but also could not be. He didn't even average 19 minutes a game this season and started much more in the Ozone than Dzone. He's gonna be good but Eichel is a superstar and would probably give the rangers the best on paper team before Ziba needs a new contract

TMarch you had me convinced until you said you don't trade legends. Gretzky, Messier, Orr, Roy, Jagr, Esposito, Dionne, Coffey, Karlsson, Francis, Chelios... I mean I could keep the list going. Safe to say that legends get traded. It's all about the return. Lundqvist has nothing left to give you. Move on and get a return.

He was the 2nd best, he was better than hughes defensively and put up slightly worse offensive numbers but on the 2nd PP unit

Ok, I can accept that. In my mind, good franchises don't trade legends, unless they ask to be traded. One of the reasons why DET is hurting right now.

Arguably better than Hughes defensively, its definitely close and he was on the 2nd PP unit cause hes not as good offensively. If hughes was on the rangers he'd be playing pp1 over ADA. Still not as good as Hughes or Makar and probably won't be anytime soon, not to mention all the other great defensemen that are in the league or borderline elite who are going to break out over the next 2 years.

He was on the 2nd unit because deangelo was already QB1 and had no reason to be anywhere else

Deangelo didn't start the year on pp1 and Fox was given a shot but wasn't effective. Not a pp1 kind of defenseman
