I think COL says no, but there are other Avs fans on here who want to trade Jost so this may not be a consensus answer. *IF* they were to trade Jost for picks it would have to be picks earlier than 2022. Avs are trying to win now and picks that are 2 years away arent as useful, especially since they will probably take at least 3 years after being drafted to become useful players (if at all).

yup my thoughts as well, they arent moving Jost who is still a good serviceable NHLer player on their 3rd line for far out draft picks.
Jost can be moved but not in this style of trade, either they are getting something of value back that can impact their roster today or he is part of a bigger trade

there are some issues but there also is some potential

    issues
    1. if we trade for wallmark we probs plan to keep him. That guys pretty solid at the PK and leafs need some PK centers other than gauthier.
    2. Jost is okay but his playstyle would not fit well with the leafs system. His FOW% is abysmal and that could cost us games.

    now as for the potentials
    1. the florida trade is good and fits the needs of both teams so its acceptable.
    2. Thats probs what dubas will want from johnsson when he becomes healthy and can be traded.

I agree but there are not a lot of teams that are gonna give 2020 seconds since their so valuable. Especially the rebuilding teams. I decided to add a second.

    But ok

I’m curious how goes Josts playing style not fit? Care to break that down? You say he would lose you games but that’s the opposite of him, his opposition shot suppression is one of his biggest strengths. Teams don’t get chances. Also jost didn’t play much c last year he was more of a wing

He is better off staying in media free colorado cause if he came here they would eat him alive. We dont want him getting overwhelmed. In genral keefes system does not suite his playstyle and hes much better off staying with u guys where he can continue to grow and become the center or wing they want. In general I feel kerfoot despite his struggles is the best fit for now until SDA/Abramov/Abruzzese can take his place. But who knows this playoffs may make it where Dubas goes for cheaper options and lets them develop.

You didn’t answer my question. What is his playing style and why wouldn’t it fit. I’m actually curious

for 1 he is inconsistent, needs to gain some confidence in his game as that is how he can improve. Second his FOW% is not good for a center and on a team like the leafs that could cost us games. He provides very little offensive punch which is okay but his defensive game still needs some work. Also he aint that fast, if leafs look for a 3c they would have to keep Kapenan in mind as that guy can skate like a rocket when needed. Overall he has potential but is small, needs to improve his offensive game, and win some more face offs to be a better center option than we already have.

I mean thanks for giving your thoughts but this is missing the mark on jost bc there are a few things here that are the opposite of what makes up his game

He doesn’t lack confidence, he forechecks well and has a high motor, you will never question his effort level and engaging. His shot isn’t great but he supports offense in terms of forechecking and puck retreal, solid in zone entries.

He skates well and he has solid defensive game in terms of shot prevention.

He’s bigger than kerfoot which you were comparing him too, I think you are hung up on the face off% which isn’t great but he wasn’t a C last year, he played more wing

Personally I wouldnt trade him for 2020 2nd + 3rd either (although other COL fans might). Avs would be happy keeping him so if all you offer is 2022 picks then thats a no
