well LA has actual use for him. No need to add assets when they have cap space and a need for the player

Stars have enough over paid under producing forwards and need Cogs’ and Comeau’s cap space for Miro next year. I bet Nill would be all over this tho (rolls eyes)

"Need" is a strong word. They do want a veteran, defense-first LHD capable of paying top pairing minutes next to Doughty. Their preference would be to sign one via UFA, hence their recent offer to Nesterov from CSKA Moscow in the KHL. If that falls through, they'll look around at other LHD UFAs that might be willing to sign short-term deals (1-2 years). If nothing surfaces on that front, they'll look at the trade market. Hjalmarsson and Leddy are currently my front runners, as they are both superior to Staal and play for cash strapped teams that might be willing to part with those guys in exchange for the Kings taking on an additional bad contract (Grabner or Komarov) in lieu of giving up a pick in return. If the ask is too high, then they might look to the Rangers and Staal.

There's a lot of stuff that has to fall through before the Kings would consider acquiring Marc Staal. Offering up a pick as compensation might move that option a rung or two up the priority ladder.

Just throwing this out there, and not directly related to this specific AGM, but I would love to see a true Kings fan try to come up with a decent and relatively fair Jack Eichel trade. The truth is, the Kings have a couple good pieces already and have been in a retool for a couple years now. I wonder if there is a Kings fan out there that thinks this team is ready to take the next step and can come up with something of a win-win for LA and the Sabres.

Assuming the 2020 1st rounder was a top-5, I think that's a good place to start. I am not sure the deal would have to include Alex Turcotte, if they were prepared to take a waiver on Gabe Vilardi consider what would become new-found depth at center with Kopitar-Eichel-Kempe. I'd think Matt Roy would have to be included as well. There would still need to be another piece though. Iafallo doesn't do it, in my opinion, but I am not as familiar with this team as I am sure you are. What about Kempe, Roy, Turcotte and their 2020 1st rounder. I feel like that'd be a real tough deal to pass up.

Very solid but Buffalo would want Iafallo over Roy. They are overflowing with RHD's.

I would think a bunch of their RHD are gone this offseason regardless of whether or not Eichel is gone. I think the only regular that stays is Montour :P They love their fire sales apparently hahaha

Why would Carolina eat Quick and Carter's contract? Jeff Carter isn't our solution to our offensive woes

Not worth trading for a player like Eichel. At the end of the day, he's just one player, and the truckload of top-end assets they'd have to offload would be a major setback.

The Kings have a good thing going, I'd hate to blow it all up for a gamble on a single player. All it would take is one Eichel injury to completely destroy Kings hockey for the better part of a decade.
