Switch Poeling to Suzuki and it might be fair.
With the original trade who do you suppose plays 2C in Colorado after moving Kadri?

Such an easy no for COL. Why does COL want a short term like Petry at defense where they have Byram and Timmins coming in to screw themselves out of being a 2 line team, and Poehling when they have a prospect every bit as good (and possibly better) in Bowers? Oh wait I know the trade is like a 100 times more beneficial for MTL and that’s all that matters.

It's AGM, at the very least he tried something more entertaining than a Domi for Graves deal that we've already seen a thousand times.

Yeah I get it, but I’ve seen that trade before. At least it wasn’t Price to the Avs. I shouldn’t have been so harsh, but let’s at least try to be remotely fair. The Avs give up a legit 2C, a young top 4 dman, for a 30+top dman, a duplicate prospect and a throw away pick. How does a team going for a cup make this trade or even remotely consider it?

Terrible trade for Colorado. Makes absolutely zero sense to trade our 2C and top pair LHD for Petry and an iffy prospect.

At least it wasn’t Price to the Avs.

Yeah you can call them anyhow you want when it's a Price for Byram and a 1st haha. I just feel the trade's bad for both teams, Kadri's always been an enemy of Montreal (Love to listen to that Weber-Kadri replay). For Montreal -even if I'm not sold on him- the addition of Graves nice but you create a hole on the right side of the defense by doing so (Other than playing a guy off side which isn't great) and you lose an almost NHL ready prospect, not a superstar but a middle six two way winger on an ELC that can come in an replace a more expensive player like Lehkonen or Armia.
The third rounder in 3 years has literally no value because it won't skate before 2025, quite useless for a win now team.

The only way Detroit surrenders any of their 2nd round picks, Is to get a late 1st round pick and probably take William Wallinder at LD. Detroit's not moving 2nds for pieces that don't help them now.

Honestly I wasn’t all that excited about Kadri when the trade happened. But he was exactly what Colorado needed. The Avs dealt with a ton of injuries particularly Landeskog and Rantanen at the same time, and Kadri helped keep the offense going even when teams were flat out doing everything possible to focus on MacKinnon. I think COL and MTL do make decent trade partners because of surpluses each team has is a shortage for the other team. That’s why you see so many Domi, Tatar or Drouin to COL.

For sur but to be fair is there a spot on your team for another 5M$+ contract? Sakic clearly wouldn't like to become like the Leafs with too many big contracts so I think that the rumours that he was interested in Lehkonen made sense, the kid can bring you an excellent two-way game plus has offensive potential (Just unlucky to be fair most his chances shoot go in). He'll never get a big contract in his career so cost control's easy and he's starting his prime years, but what do you think the Avs were to give for him? Jost makes no sense, it'd be a side move for both teams. A proven backup goalie? Prospects? Picks?

They imo literally have a spot for $5-6M winger even after extensions to Makar and Landeskog and the others they want to keep because of MacKinnon’s contract. They would have even more if they want to roll the dice and bridge Makar (something I don’t think they want to do or should do). Unlike TOR with Tavares, Matthews Marner and Nylander taking $40M the Avs have MacKinnon, Rantanen, Landeskog (assume $8M), Makar (assume $9.5), AND Kadri for $37.5M making it much more flexible for them to add.
