Flat Cap

Created by: JMS14
Team: 2020-21 Detroit Red Wings
Initial Creation Date: Jun. 19, 2020
Published: Jun. 19, 2020
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Just a couple thoughts.
I am hoping that if the cap remains close to flat this season, then that will help keep Bertuzzi and Mantha's numbers lower. I would like to see them combine for no more than $12Mill in cap space.
Second thing I am hoping will happen is we sign a D-Man (or two) that we can flip either at this deadline or next, depending if someone will take a 1 yr deal, which if the cap does not move much then maybe we can overpay for one year.
Sign a goalie that can platoon with Bernier and maybe sign for a year or two longer, so we at least have someone next year.
Drafting 4th overall lets say - so I did not include the player in the roster. I'm not even sure who I would pick if Laf, Byfield, and Stultze are gone.

I am leaning towards Drysdale I think, too. Just help build that D Core and dman are always harder to find.

1st overall would be amazing and as disappointed as I would be if we don’t win the Laf sweepstakes, I’ll prob take it way to personally if we don’t at least get a top 3 pick!!!

4th will be best player available in Steve's eyes, so Rossi or Raymond or Drysdale wouldn't surprise me

Honestly a flat cap keeps you from having to eat a contract to stay above the floor

There are so many holes on this team they’d just use the space in FA or acquire cap dumps for futures. The Illitch family are not frugal when it comes to the DRW.
