Taking Advantage of Tampa

Created by: OlafKolzigsHotDog
Team: 2020-21 Montreal Canadiens
Initial Creation Date: Jun. 23, 2020
Published: Jun. 23, 2020
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
This would be under threat of an offer sheet (if no one offer sheets Sergachev or Cirelli this off season they are nuts).
Not amazing for Tampa, but they get inexpensive roster players for this season, two will be RFAs and won't cost a lot to raise. They also get a collection of picks. I would say maybe throw in a couple middling prospects.
Sergachev - 1st, 2nd, Kulak, Armia
Johnson - 1st, 2nd, Lehkonen, Poehling
Gourde and Paquette - Weal, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th

this is the least of your problems with this trade, but you exceeded the amount of contracts you can have retention on

I didn't know there was a limit, thanks for that. They should abolish that limit. Let rich bad teams abuse it to get better.

Tyler Johnson doesn't want to play in Canada, So he's not waiving for Montreal. And Tampa still doesn't make that trade.

It’s going to be interesting how Tampa solves its cap issues. Finally the unfair advantage of being a tax free state is catching up all those no trade and no movement clauses. If nobody agrees to waive or extend lists of teams it’s hard to see how they will come out of it.

Easy fix. Don't retain on Poehling. He'll be in the minors in TB.

Keep Weal. TB keeps Coburn.

Where is Domi??

I assume Alzner is a cbo...

The odd part of the ntc is you can be placed, and claimed, on waivers. Johnson may not want to play in Canada but he can be placed on waivers and Mon has 8th claim...

With waivers wouldn’t Tampa still be on the hook to pay a portion of the deal?

Nope. You claim him. He's yours. If he passes thru waivers he can be sent to the minors and TB saves a little, 1 mil +, on his cap...

I wasn’t too sure about that I was told alittle differently before team would remain on the hook for 50% of salary for the first year of remaining term for any ufa signed contract. Obviously this was not correct.

The negative value of Gourde and Johnson extremely outweighs Sergachev’s value. So you’re screwing up our cap situation and giving TBL a bunch of stuff for free. How nice of you.

Molson quickly fires you and frantically calls the NHL before the deal is finalized to stop it from happening

Ok 5 for 5, then you add in the 8 picks + all graduating prospects.
