Mitch marner and Oliver Bjorkstrand are not seth jones- the guy who we are talking about here. I'm not sure what this has to do with anything?

My point is that Marner isn't a top-line winger and based off of on ice value it's a fair assessment. You haven't cited anything beyond naming random places where there might be information, which shows absolutely nothing. At this point he pretty much is what he is and that is a winger who plays alongside superstars and is carried by them.

One of your last posts was that there is lots of stuff to back up Jones being good. You asked where else I was looking then posted Marner and Bjorkstrands RAPM. Compare Justin Holl's RAPM and Jones' RAPM and let me know how you feel about that.

You insist that Marner is better than Bjorkstrand, yet you've not shown how you're backing up that assertion. Surely the parallel is an obvious one.

We're not talking about Justin Holl. We're talking about comparative evaluation of players that are popularly regarded as being elite or near-elite.

thats a good point. you almost perfectly described Rasmus Ristolainen

Except for the fact Ristolainen can’t get lay defense. Jones can. It isn’t a stretch to call Jones a future Norris winner. But you don’t like him, I understand.

all stats available to the public point to him being not that great. hes very talented but is clearly not preforming to his highest potential on the top pair meaning he should be moved down

What is up with your hate boner for Jones recently? You read one JFresh article and suddenly think hes the worst player in the world. You do understand analytics arent everything? This is all coming from a columbus fan who does think Jones is overrated, but you're WAY overblowing trying to be edgy. Even in his current state CBJ dont take that.

Bjorkstrand had a significantly higher GAR than Marner this year and a higher Corsi rating. How can you sit here and say Marner is exempt from advanced stats then go and use them to define Jones? That's pure ignorance.

Not to mention his advanced stats are flawed too. Hes mentioning how both Reilly and Jones sucked defensively but Reilly made up with that offensively... has he forgotten Toronto and Columbus are on separate ends of the offense spectrum?

I love JFresh. But this dude saw one article, didn't even read it fully and is now acting like he has some god given super power to pull advanced stats out of his ass and be the ultimate hockey knowledge guy. Even if Seth is a 2nd pair guy (which he isnt) then that package wont get him based on his leadership and potential. I'm not sure why Jack is saying "he is what he is now"... PLENTY of defensmen have down seasons and then surge back. Also the whole "marner is immune to advanced stats but Jones isnt" narrative is kind of funny
