Idk I’d rather give up picks than CM and JG doesn’t have enough term for me to give up Vrana for him....I’m extremely high on CM and think he’s going to be high end. Future 2c possibly 1c

Are you rebuilding or not? Make up your mind. All these trades point in 6 different directions

It doesn't have to be one or the other. It's a retooling to stay competitive now while hopefully rebuilding the center depth into something that can be elite down the road.

In this scenario, once you get Laine and Vrana locked up long term (they are pending RFA's in 2021) then you have Lindholm, Monahan, Laine, Vrana and White locked up long term all under the age of 25/26. You've also got Hall still under 30, but now you have McMichael and the 3rd overall pick (Byfield/Stutzle/Perfetti/Rossi) as premier C prospects that will hopefully jump into the league like Barzal or Point did and then you've got a godamned loaded top 9 with the type of C depth that can win a Cup instead of this make it one year miss the next crap we have going on right now with the current core.

Ok next question, where are you getting the cap space to lock them up, and even if you do find it, who plays goalie next year?

If you extend Vrana and Laine for $15 million total (which is on the high end), you've got your top 10 forwards and top 5 D signed for $74 million. That leaves $7 million to fill out the bottom of the roster (Valiimaki, Lerby, Dube, Phillips as the RFAs) and add a goalie....but that's if the cap stays flat for two straight off seasons.

One other thing as well, every time there has been a stoppage in play since the cap was introduced, I believe there has been at least one compliance buy out per team. With the cap uncertainty the way it is due to dipping revenues I think there is a very good chance they allow each team one in the next off season. Can't see the Flames letting that go by without using it on Lucic.

There wont be a compliance buyout, owners voted against it already

That's a good offer, and don't act like it isn't.

Pisses me off when you give up good assets in proposals and people respond with posts like this, when this site is chock full of idiots proposing to get other teams best players for 3 or 4 pieces of crap.

I don't know if the Jets would trade Laine, but they've got a ton of money committed to Wheeler on the right side, plus Connor and Ehlers are also high paid top 6 wingers. They've also got Appleton and Roslovic and Vesalainen on their way up, plus they had a **** of a time signing Laine the last time he was an RFA.

If they do trade him then the above offer is a pretty decent one. 15th overall pick in a deep draft and a 23 year old top 4 / 20+ minute per night Dman who can skate like the wind and has pedigree with room to get better...plus he's a lefty and they are pretty barren on the left side of the D after Morrissey. Oh yeah, all that and he's signed to a long term contract for less than $5 million per which is huge for a top 4 defenseman these days. It's fair, and it makes sense.

A forward of Laine's talents is difficult to replace, he's not worth parting with for this.

There's a lot of dmen in free agency this offseason, can just sign one or two and not give up any assets or see if one of the Jets many D prospects make the team.

Are the Jets trying to win a cup or not cause yeah another 1st is great and all but a mid pick is a couple years away from helping.

The Jets scoring comes from their top 6 forwards and that's it, they really can't trade one and no Roslovic, Vesalainen and any other prospects they have aren't adequate replacements for Laine's production, not even close.

Laine was a second overall pick for a reason, trading him for this would be a huge mistake.
