Marner To Montreal

Created by: AnalyticsGeek
Team: 2021-22 Montreal Canadiens
Initial Creation Date: Jun. 25, 2020
Published: Jun. 25, 2020
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
I've seen a lot of people suggest that Montreal should trade Weber for one of Toronto's big 4 forwards. Obviously, Weber is 36 & still has 5 years on his contract, but he seems to be one of those players that won't age & will be able to maintain his game at an elite level until his 40s. He doesn't rely on his speed or skating ability, but just his positioning, gap coverage, and decision making. He has a lot of Zdeno Chara in him.

dude, if you dont want people to think you're a troll you at least have to pretend to listen to criticism and not keep posting the same nonsense every single time you are confronted. 800 year old shea weber who has the manoeuvrability of a tug boat and gets destroyed by any offensive attack with speed is not a "strong defensive presence" and even if he was, he wouldnt be worth near Mitch Marner in value. So either get good at faking it or wake up and start trying to get value for Marner. Your schtick is tired.

Alright, after I looked at the stats, I realized that maybe Shea Weber isn’t the strong defensive presence everyone made him to be. He has an XGA that ranks in the 25th percentile this season & 34th last season. Given his contract, he probably couldn’t fetch Marner.

Doubt the Leafs accept that, im as big of a Weber fan of any but Marner is one of the best young wingers out there. And good as Hamilton is thats an overpayment.

first 5 trades are missing first round picks coming back to montreal the rest are good. but that team is not elite they need along way to learn what it atkes to win in the nhl they would be too young.

Mark stone with an extension got branstrom and a 2nd. Stone is clearly much better than gally and Branstrom is better than Poulin.

I think that’s a fair trade for gally

Brannstrom looked like the real deal = Romanov for exemple, or Dobson Bouchard. For now Vegas fleeced OTT but Brannstrom is young and have time to prove he will be a #2-3-4 we’ll see

You didn’t read the description. Weber is still a top pairing RHD. He’s pretty durable, doesn’t look like his game will age. The Leafs will be an instant contender during the remaining 5 years of his contract.

The added bonus of adding Weber is IF he retires early his cap hit goes back to Nashville cause they signed the contract.

We don’t know that, Brannstrom doesn’t crack OTT roster and every expert are saying Romanov is NHL ready since last year

Branstrom is definitely higher touted. We’ve never seen what Romanov will do in North America. Big question mark.
