Trades
TOR
  1. Bemström, Emil
  2. Savard, David ($2,000,000 retained)
Additional Details:
Not sure on the value of Bremstrom or what else Toronto or CBJ would have to add, but he seems intriguing. Kap for a retained Savard seems fair. Johnsson for Bremstrom "seems" fair, as I think Bremstrom could step in and play 4th line and maybe play 3rd. Admittedly, I don't know his game very much. Seems like a decent, smallish 2 way winger that plays a bigger game and can play C. CDJ fans feel free to flame me if I'm off on my valuation of him.
CBJ
  1. Johnsson, Andreas
  2. Kapanen, Kasperi
Additional Details:
2 hard-working, middle 6 wingers with good offensive numbers on team friendly contracts.

Love savard but wouldn’t trade Kapanen for a D-Man who will likely be here for one year

The problem here isn't so much the valuation of Bemstrom (our hope is that he ends up near Kapanen's level or higher, but we'll see) but rather this being yet another attempt to acquire Savard in exchange for not-the-#2C-we-need players.

Doesn’t CBJ need scoring in general?

Not really. Everyone says that but that’s not the teams style of play. Plus does 2 3rd line wings really help is much with scoring? And that’s if they play 3rd line, both could easily end up kn the 4th line with Bjorkstrand, Atkinson and Anderson on the right (both Atkinson and Anderson has disaster years but Atkinson is a 40 goal guy and Anderson has 27 the year prior) and a mix of Foudy, Folingo, Nyqvist, Texier and Grigorenko On the left (Foudy, Texier and Grigoranko would also play center) just pushes Johansson done the lineup too. What Columbus really needs is an offensive minded top 6 center to play 2nd line behind PLD. The hope is that Grigorenko can fill that void.

So does Columbus really need to spend 9-10 mil on a 4th line? With Jenner, Nash or Wennberg centering them? I don’t think so. That also leaves us with Jones as the only RHD on the team as I don’t think Peeke is quite ready for full time NHL.

All in all it’s a good fit for Toronto, not for Columbus.
