But the point is that every prospect theoretically has good upside. The high end prospects are what really matters. That’s why Colorado has a highly ranked prospect pool because Byram/newhook LA has turcotte/byfield minnesota has Rossi/kaprizov/boldy. All of these prospects are probably top 25 in the whole nhl and these teams have multiple of them.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Hockyluv21</b></div><div>I know that the backlash against Hockey Twitter is a thing, and I know that our pool doesn't have elite prospects outside of Jarvis, however, there are at least 15 guys on here that have a very good chance to be effective NHL role players, which no other pool can boast outside of Los Angeles. On top of that, you have maybe 5-10 more guys on top that are pure boom-or-bust and are not likely to be NHL players, but if they are, could be impact guys. To me, I see Carolina as being anywhere from the #3-to-#8 prospect pool in the league, depending on what you're looking for in a farm. It's certainly the best prospect pool of any contending club in hockey, which says a LOT.
I would also keep Geekie as a prospect, for now, just because he's only played 2 regular-season games in the NHL.</div></div>
Who are the 15 guys who have a “very good chance” of being nhl players?

so it's a lateral move.
definitely might help Andersen out, the forward core is not really different, better or worse.
Losing Johnsson, replaced with Barabanov, and Clifford with Simmonds kind of negates any positive or negative effect.
it's just shifting bodies and waiting for Sandin or Liljegren to finally be ready for big boy minutes :|</div></div>
Our problem wasn’t scoring goals is my point though

Lebron rn would replace liljegren and play with sandin so only one young D. We know what spezza and kerfoot can give us. i liked how engvall looked in the Columbus series with spezza and Clifford and think simmonds is an upgrade on Clifford. And Robertson and barabanov May or may not do well this year if not barabanov goes back to Russia or Robertson gets shifted around to find a better line mate fit for him but it’s worth it to have Brodie.

that LW side is pretty awful and entirely relying on Robertson and Hyman to produce like top 6 forwards.
my point of losing depth still stands.</div></div>
Hyman. Matthews Marner
Mikheyev. Tavares. Nylander
barabanov kerfoot Robertson
Engvall. Spezza. Simmonds

Trade johnsson replace him with mikheyev and have around 2 mil sign the forward you need as an extra chamge Rosen for a forward and you got around 1 mil left carrying one extra forward and one extra defensman

Suggestion from a Buffalo
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Miles_Togo</b></div><div>I have watched almost every game that Risto has played in the NHL. I disagree with you. Every coach he has had disagrees with you. If its true that Dubas was in trade talks with Buffalo over Risto before the trade deadline then he also disagrees with you.</div></div>
The Dubas rumour was started online by eklund not a big actual NHL insider and I’m not trusting anyone in the Buffalo org to deem a player good. The fact remains that risto is not good defensively. He makes poor choices all the time can’t defend the rush for his life and the only time he looks good is when he pushes around a forward who’s way smaller than him in front of the net.

Suggestion from a Buffalo
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Miles_Togo</b></div><div>I would. First of all, I don't agree that Risto is a not very good overpaid defenceman, but I know the advanced stats cult is not worth wasting my time on. Thankfully, NHL GMs know that the analytics available to the advanced stats cult is complete garbage. Second it frees up 5.5M in cap space, also brings in a 1st and decent prospect. I would make that trade without hesitation.</div></div>
I don’t look at advanced stats I just watch buffalo play risto is not some very good defence man he is real bad in his own zone. The thing about him is he hits and puts up points but is not good at defending at all.

Suggestion from a Buffalo
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Miles_Togo</b></div><div>Doesn't make sense for Buffalo to trade two RHD, and Montour's style of play is just more of what Toronto has and doesn't improve their weaknesses. Risto is a big, physical D who goes up against the best, is difficult to play against, can break the cycle and clear the front of the net. He is what Toronto needs. I would prefer a D like Jones, or Ekblad but they are unlikely to be available. Advanced stats devotees will lose their minds, but publicly available advanced stats are trash, and teams have much better analytics. Knowing that Dubas has much, much better analytics he also engaged in trade talks about Risto with Buffalo before the trade deadline. If the Leafs ever hope to get Sandin and Liljegren into the lineup and succeeding, or if they ever hope to not get killed by a big, strong cycling team, they need heavier D.
I would trade Marner for Risto, a 1st (doesn't matter to me if it is 2020 or 2021) and a decent prospect.
Marner and Eichel would look great together. At the same time Skinner struggled badly on the second line after Olofsson became the first line LW. Marner feeding him the puck would likely return him to the kind of production they need from him to justify his contract.</div></div>
Are you serious you’d trade an elite winger for a not very good overpaid defenceman a 1st and a decent prospect.

The leafs will have no problem trading johnsson just because people on cap friendly who don’t know hockey say he has no value dosent mean NHL teams think he has no value. Khaira isn’t close to johnsson in value and adding the retention is a joke.
