Red wings pass, not trading a 2nd for an aging player that makes no sense for their rebuild.

oilers pass, they aren't trading for a player who they will end up having to protect in the expansion draft and lose a good player

Palat is and has been a competent defensive player, and a good winger. You could lower the ask from 1st and 4th, but hes a definite improvement for what Edmonton can put on the wing outside of Draisaitl and Yamamoto. Unless EDM went 4-4 for Seattle, he'd make the protection list. Either way, the trade is about cap space, and Palat is a valued asset and winger, so Edmonton fit.

Yeah, the Johnson trade might end up needing to include some sweeteners from Tampa. They just needed to dump salary, but Johnson isn't a scrub, figured a Center who could play dependably for a Detroit team that will still be awful next year or two could use some veterans, and one that Steve Yzerman knows very well.

It makes sense but would rather keep that pick since it will be a “late first” and sign someone like Haula for cheaper for that 2C spot.

Those 2 trades not close, try changing 2nd to 5th and the 5th to 2nd.

Everyone in the league knows Tampa is cap strapped, everyone will want assets in return for taking Tampa's cap hits.

Tampa was cap strapped last year and turned Miller into a 1st and 3rd from Vancouver. A good player is a good player regardless of cap situation. If tampa ends up well over the cap in the offseason then maybe they'll have to do it for a 5th only or something, but if you think nobody in the league would make a trade of a 3rd for a 2nd/3rd line center rather than let another team take him, you are mistaken.

So Detroit gives up a 2nd round pick actually late 1st round pick for a 30 year old Tyler Johnson making 4x5 and a 5th round pick. No way is Johnson worth that much and Detroit's not giving up picks period.

Nice effort OP to give Tampa a good roster next year. I think they can convince one of Johnson, Gourde or Palat to waive, but I'm not sure about 2 of them though. I'd love to keep Killorn as well, but he seems like the most likely trade target. Johnson is definitely worth the value you gave him, maybe not to Detroit but to someone. Tampa won't be adding some high round pick to him in exchange for a 5th, he's 29 not 39 lol. Palat seems the least likely to be moved, but I don't think his value is far off from what you posted. What do you think about them keeping Rutta and Maroon? I can see Maroon going elsewhere but think Rutta would be a smart and fairly cost effective dman to re-sign. If they move out Coburn, which shouldn't be that difficult, they should be able to keep him. He was a very effective partner for Hedman before his injury and seems worth keeping.

Thanks, yeah I wouldn't be surprised if Killorn is traded along with someone else, but they do need to be willing to waive the NMC/NTCs as you mentioned. I originally re-signed Rutta for 1x1.5, but decided to keep it simple and let him walk while keeping Coburn. Would be easy enough to find someone to take a big Dman like Coburn at 1.7M I would think, and Rutta shouldn't be more than 2M himself.
