Other side of Boeser Trade

Created by: Cham
Team: 2020-21 Vancouver Canucks
Initial Creation Date: Jul. 11, 2020
Published: Jul. 11, 2020
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
The Canucks receive:
- A top 6 RW (Saad at a cheaper price and for one year so they can use Saad's 3M to resign Pettersson
- Nylander who played at a top 6 level at the end of the season but may want a raise so they could keep him or trade his RFA rights if needed
- Murphy to solidify the blue line
- Vlasic to provide more long term stability
- A 1st to get a solid prospect in a deep draft.

This trade only works if the Canucks can get Loui Eriksson either:
- Traded
- Put on LTIR
- Convince him to accept a mutual contract termination (which I heard he may agree to once)
Or
- Get their signings to take cheaper deals
- Don't resign one of their players

VAN has to take that, might even be an overpayment by Chicago

I don't hate this...

I've been deadset against all Boeser trades on this site cause 99% acquire him for scraps, imo if he's traded it'll be a 1 for 1 deal to solidify the blueline,, but this isn't terrible. I'm not sure if I'd take cause I think it still leaves the defense one injury away from another trainwreck, but props for the proposition

Just wondering who you’d like to see in a 1 for 1 Boeser trade

Nice that Canucks fans deign to consider this, but there is no universe in which I could consider it being appealing to the Hawks.

From Chicago? I'd say there isn't anyone. Closest would be Boqvist but that'd be a hard no from the Hawks I suspect.

The first player that came to mind for me is Matt Dumba from Minny. Similar contract, similar age, he'd be a good option on the right side to play with Hughes

Plus Boes would love to play at home in front of his dad while he can

You can look at it as investing in the future by getting the best player but also making your team less competitive in the short term. If the Hawks don't free up enough cap space to sign a decent goalie/dman after this trade, it'll probably just end up as a lateral move.

You are correct, Hawks won't do Boqvist for Boesser 1 for 1
