Not an out of this world Calgary trade, I think you added a fourth because you know it's a little low for Lindholm, I think to even get the ball rolling that pick is bumped up two rounds.

laugh So Tampa takes on a $5.4 million Ristolainen probably same deal that Cirelli gets. Yean no Tampa isn't dealing Cirelli for a more expensive contract. And for 3x3.5 Cirelli stays in Tampa no freaking way he signs that contract from Buffalo.

Calgary has 4 defenseman that are UFA, makes sense to acquire Montour who is a top 4 guy plus a prospect and a pick. Pick could be a little higher but overall the trade is fair

They have D men leaving in UFA and have the space for him plus a prospect who is NHL ready and a first. Cirelli is a future Selke winner he deserves more than 3x 3.5

Makes no sense for Brisebois to trade Cirelli for a expensive Ristolainen. Unless you plan on taking Gourde Ristolainen eats what cap Tampa has to afford to resign Sergachev and Cernak. Tampa can't afford to eat $5.4 million on Risto for the next 2 years the deal makes no sense for Tampa they need cap space and you provide them with none.

Calgary is also looking at a D core without any UFA signings of:
Hanifin - Andersson
Giordano - Valimaki
Kylington (RFA) - Yelesin

With a couple solid enough prospects in the pipeline and a great scout team with a history of finding good cheap European d men or college. Adding Montour is a luxury and not worth the top RW Calgary has had in a long time, who is also locked up until 2025 for under 5 million. Doesn't make sense.

No, the trade is not fair.

Give me one good reason why the Flames would trade Lindholm, their only right shot top 6 forward on a bargain contract? And don't tell me it's to get Montour, they can keep Lindholm and sign any number of UFA defensemen who are just as good while keeping Lindholm. It's certainly not to get a busting prospect like Mittelstadt or a 4th round pick I hope....

If you think it's a fair CGY trade, you haven't watched Lindholm the past 2 seasons. Value isn't really that close

Flames absolutely hang up. Lindholm is a bargain at his contract and has been a fantastic fit for us. Why would we give him away for scrap parts, reclamation projects and redundancy players we don’t need?

Montour, TT, 2020 1st would be the starting point for Lindholm, tbh we probably gotta add a 2nd and another piece
