Irwin & Weber are legit doomsday scenario call ups.. don't think you can go wrong with them. If Byfuglien can come back 75% of what he was, he is > TVR.
I think the trade is pretty fair, we get 2 decent prospects and a 3rd for a goalie who has had 1/2-3/4 of a good NHL season.. Would you be happier with a 2nd round pick + those prospects?
I think Sokolov could be a disgusting long term project. You can't teach that size.. work on his skating in WBS for a few years and he could be a imposing top9/bottom 6 piece.
Byfuglien was already regressing before he left, just in time alone with a normal aging curve he'd barely be 75% of what he was, then you factor in that he hasn't played in over a year, had a foot/ankle injury that he's struggled to rehab, his skating will tank even farther, and players that play his more physical brand tend to have much steeper aging curves, you'd be lucky to get 1/3 of what he was in WPG imo
Yeah ig, but I'm not all that interested in Barratt in general, ik he's a "local" Penn State guy, and has eye popping point totals, but he wasn't good defensively, and was on an absolutely loaded team, his ceiling is a good scoring third liner, which doesn't seem to be the direction Sully and GMJR want to go, and we already have a ton of guys that he'll be fighting for a roster spot with, like I just wouldn't be interested in a trade where he's the main piece back, and I just don't know much about Hagel, another Militec maybe like meh, I love Militec, but we don't need more of him, and we're giving up ERod who is a capable third liner in his own right
I wouldn't consider him much of a project, I'd compare him to a bigger (doesn't mean good defensively) and slightly better Drozg/Almeida, if we want to wait till the 4th or 5th to take him fine, but there will be better guys available in the third
