No, Ullmark probably isn't our future, but he's still a decent goalie. Ullmark actually has a higher sv % the last 3 years (.911) than Murray (.909), while being on a worse team.

An Ullmark Murray tandem wouldn’t be horrible though.

I am not sure how acquiring an RFA goaltender that is worse than our current RFA goaltender and then paying him more than our RFA goaltender will require is going to make us closer to winning a cup.

No I wouldn't mind that. OP's comment just made it seem like Ullmark was a bum compared to Murray.

Yeah I seem to think about it everyday if he doesn’t get injured they would have stayed in the real playoff race.

I wouldn't mind Murray if he had term on a cost controlled contract. My fear is that whoever acquires him is going to ignore the last few years and and feel because he has won two cups and is still young that he will be the same goalie he was four years ago. Then he gets paid a ridiculous amount with plenty of term and we are stuck with his contract.

Murray isn't bad he's just constantly injured. Also I think Risto has a bit more value, especially since Buffalo is retaining salary.

Murray wouldn't make us cup contenders. We don't have the luxury of an amazing group of players (including 2 of the top 5 players since 05) like the pens do to help our goalies.

Ullmark was infinitely better than Murray this year. He's really good and hes not even the future of the Sabres goaltending. UPL is. Sabres dont need anything more than a decent back up

They can find cheaper and more consistent options
