Murrary for 1st.

I am big on saying Murray's value is the RFA comp value of a 1st and 3rd... but I am thinking more the value of a #20-#31 first, not #8OA

VAN decline, they would rather keep Virtanen.

That’s fair. I expect that they have no interest in trading Brock Boeser. However, naturally someone else has to go to fix their cap situation. And since nobody wants Eriksson, Virtanen seemed possible.

I also considered the idea of signing Holtby to a three-year $6000,000 per year deal, but he is on the decline and Murray is considerably younger. Ideally the Sabres would use the eighth overall pick to acquire a goaltender and a #2 center. But Pittsburgh does not have one they would give up.

If you were talking about a 1st in the 15 and below range I would say yeah.

But I don't see a team giving up a top 10 pick.
Murray has value, but my issue here is that BUF is not in some win now mode.
No quick fix is going to fix that team.
If I were them I would sign a guy like Holtby on a short term deal 2 years. Go from there.
