how to decide contracts for the future

Created by: THISACCOUNTISGONE
Team: 2020-21 New York Rangers
Initial Creation Date: Jul. 29, 2020
Published: Jul. 29, 2020
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Here are the 2 options for Strome and Deangelo:
Strome: If Strome has a good postseason, we sign him to a bridge deal; If he has a poor postseason, we sign him to a one year contract until his UFA status and think of a trade at the deadline
Deangelo: If we keep him on the right side, we keep him for a bridge deal/one year because of Nils Lundkvist coming up in 2021-2022; if he moves to left side, he signs long term so left side can be lindgren, deangelo, and miller while right side is trouba, fox, and lundkvist

So rangers lose to Carolina in the first round, win lottery, get Laffy, get a mid round 1st from Carolina (21?), Strome signs a one year contract due to a bad postseason, deangelo signs a bridge deal, fast walks

You don’t have to make trades with Ottawa for the draft picks, you can create players.
DeAngelo will not sign for under $5M and Strome won’t take a 1-2 year deal, his last shot at a long term contract

the trade with Ottowa after the smith andersson one isnt a trade, its just picking draft picks. Also if strome goes to arbitration, he may get a one year deal like hayes did with the rangers. deangelo also does deserve 5 mil plus so i would give him more

Better than DeAngelo?
Other people think the same thing about Lundkvist, so just trade him. You have lots of D prospects

so the order of our d men prospects is: Lundkvist, Miller, Robertson, Jones. Nils won many accolades in the shl this year as a 19 year old playing against men. he is a future top 4 or top 2 dman for us

Miller’s development is going to be wrecked in the AHL next year since he isn’t ready. Jones made team USA at the WJC and looked fine. Robertson is solid. Nils is smallish, but Robertson and Miller are biggish, so it will work. My rankings: Lundkvist, Robertson, Jones, Miller.

miller was in training camp with the rangers for the past 2 weeks. from my reports and other scouts, he looked solid and he is even projected now to make starting lineup for next year

Which would result in what? A one year deal no?
