Its unlikely, but if the Rangers:
A) threaten to buy him out, hed probably rather play elsewhere than face the embarrassment of being bought out
B) Rangers decide to make him 3G and he decides hed rather play elsewhere then sit on the bench all season

ok sure. CGY definitely would be a better fit just based on goalie need. But no matter the package I think the rangers can't afford to bring in Lucic in return for 3 years. Just too awful a contract. If taking on Lucic in any fashion from CGY is involved the Rangers can't do it

This is the thought process I provided someone else in this thread. This AGM is based on moving Lundqvist for VAN cap dump. Seeing as VAN doesnt need a G, but CGY has a cap dump in Lucic and could use a G, thats why i proposed it.

The comparison is taking back:
2 yrs x 6mil for Eriksson
vs
3 yrs x5.25mil for Lucic

Yes the 1 year extra sucks, but its 750k less years 1 and 2 and Im confident Lucic will be more productive than Eriksson

To my knowledge NHL players do not have to agree to a buy out.
