A solid argument if you ask me. Not that I dislike the goat at all, but I think I would rather see Clifford spezza and engvall together.

I think that would be the strongest lineup. I like Gauthier... he's a nice guy (maybe too nice) but Engvall is just better right now.

Gauthier should stay in the line-up as he is the superior shutdown center that the Leafs need for the playoffs. Goat is getting better and better and if he starts using his size more he can be dominant in his role. Engvall really tailed off this year after a hot start and seems to be struggling where as Goat is getting stronger. I am actually okay with shifting Spezza out of the line up and have a fourth line of Goat, Clifford and Engvall and I think this would be a great shut down fourth line.

Engvall is pretty strong defensively as well. I’m not overly concerned about that with a line that will see less than 10min.

The nice part about of Engvall is he also kills penalties like Goat and has a little more offensive upside.

I think people underestimate the importance of winning defensive zone faceoffs. Especially for the Leafs, who really struggle when losing momentum in their zone. The Goat has 120 more NHL games of experience. He took 70% of his faceoff starts in the D zone, and still ranked among the lowest goals allowed per 60 minutes on the team. Not the kind of things that get noticed, but the kind of things that matter to win.
