COL declines as they have no room for additions in the bottom 6F. We can’t find room for Jost as it is, let alone adding Gambrell to the mix

Oh sure why don’t the Wings also just send our 1st pick, 2nd, and the rest of our draft pick too

Detroit isn’t in a position of the rebuild to be spending futures.

not giving away Simek for free

we could probably get a fair bit more for Labanc

Leivo probably gets a bit more

a 21 man roster won't work

Other then that this team is pretty solid

Honestly, they can move Simek and Gambrell anywhere, I thought that the returns were pretty fair. I think the roster is fairly realistic as compared to what a lot of sharks builds have been recently . The fact of the matter is they can't move any of their big contracts so they should look to add as many picks in the 2nd and 3rd as they can seeing as those won't cost as much as 1st rounders. Additionally, in terms of FA signings, they really need to add right-wingers, Toffoli and Smith should be on top of their list imo.

Yeah still needs work for sure but I think if they aim for something like this it gives them a good chance at being more competitive while adding some more picks.

I don't think so and it's not close. The 3rd is basically a 2nd rd pick and the player taken there will most likely be better than Simek. He is an un drafted 28yr old defenseman who has played 89 in the last 2 seasons. I'm sorry but even if Detroit only gave up a 5th for him they'd still get the worst of the deal

Think you may see quite a few 20-21 man rosters next year.

Is there something in there that his numbers don't show? He looks like in his 2 NHL seasons he hasn't really made an impact in the NHL.

If teams all decide to be very fiscally irresponsible yes. But I highly doubt that's the case.

Ok I'm fine to disagree about the 3rd and 4th for the price but you think a 5th is bad value?!

He's a great defender who can play anywhere in the lineup and is entering the prime of his career. He's also signed to a very affordable contract for a solid amount of time. I understand Detroit wouldn't do it because they're rebuilding but this is a steal value wise.

yeah he's great defensively

He can also play anywhere in the lineup. He started his NHL career on the top line with Burns and has moved around but I think he still ended the season playing with Burnzie.

He's been a great shutdown guy on an offensive squad of defenseman

Detroit's not trading any of their picks this year, If anything they will be adding picks not subtracting unless it's for a RFA Goalie like Georgiev, Jarry, Murray or Demko.

Also, Simek tore his ACL and MCL at the end of last season. Recovered and played this year, but still.

You are right he is worth more than a 5th probably some where between a 3rd and a 4th if the team wants him, but you are just trying to reload picks and Detroit is trying to re build so those picks just have a lot more value to Detroit.
