That is somewhat quantity for quality, Trouba is obviously solid, but overpaid, and the draft picks would be later than the ones given up by the Red Wings in this case. Detroit's big need is top end talent, this trade sets us back in addressing that need.

Fast still has some good years left and he is the heart and soul of the team and he deserves it. We'll have plenty of cap once Lundqvist, Staal and Smith are gone to pay Zibanejad.

Andersson isn’t a Yzerman guy. Yzerman already inquired about Trouba but thought it was too high and he just had a down year on an overpaid contract. Georgiev is a worth a second round pick. There’s really too many moving components for this trade and doesn’t make sense for Detroit but as @Seider53 said it’s a polite no. If you want to move Geo for a pick then I’m listening but not super interested in the other components of the trade.

Hi Detroit fan. We actually think very highly of Georgiev and Howden (27th overall pick). If we didn't have Shesterkin, Georgiev would be our starter. I personally love the way he plays. Lias Andersson (7th overall pick) was just a throw in and hopefully someone can talk some sense into this kid. Agree, Trouba is too rich for us, but for a team that has some cap space, he was a 9th overall pick and he can play big and tough with a heavy shot. We need to free up some cap space and we have too many prospects coming up and can't keep all of these good players. Detroit would also be getting what is probably a 10th or 11th overall pick. That's only moving back 6 or 7 spots - assuming we don't win the lottery tonight.
