Would rather keep Kakko and trade Laffy. Need room on the left side with Othmann and Cuylle coming up next year.

I guess you're not familiar with recent NYR history. Callahan and McDonagh were both traded as Captains. It's a tradition. Trouba is great, we just don't have the cap - he's gone in 2024-25 for sure.

Don't like giving up two 1sts. But it's tempting. Would prefer to give 2023 1st, 3rd, 2025 4th, Hajek, Jones - good players not getting any opportunities because they are stuck behind a logjam - and Blais if they want him - good player, hits, good hands, just not finding his groove with the NYR.

timo long term
As much as I like this roster, I think this is too tight for the cap. If there are any cap games they can play, like maybe restructuring Panarin, then I'm all in - I'm OK with Laffy for Meier, but NOT Kane. Otherwise, they need a player < $6M to make it work I think - maybe someone like Buchnevich if Blues are sellers? Priority in 2024-5 will be to move Trouba and sign Schneider and Kakko to long term deals. I think there are plenty of GOOD teams who would covet Goodrow at the deadline - Buffalo, Minnesota, Nashville, Winnipeg, Seattle and LAK - I don't think the NYR will need to sweeten the deal and could even get a 5-7th, knowing Drury. I just don't see Meier happening, but it would be fun.

this is a very good team
This is most likely the team to start next year unless Reaves gets moved. Regarding Othmann, I agree. Where else can he go but where you have him? He can't stay in the OHL, he is ineligible to play in the AHL, and he is a goal scorer who would be wasted on the 4th line. Where you have him is perfect. Looks like you also have the NYR moving on from Hunt and Gauthier. They need to move at least one of them and probably keep the other. Reaves isn't going to play all 82 games. LGR!!!

bye Nemo
Have you noticed how this site is primarily composed of fantasy masochists and fantasy sadists? Each team's fans grossly overestimate the value of their own team's assets. The more venomous the comment, the more likes they get from their minions. I felt you deserved a positive comment because your team is one that many NYR fans would like to see on the ice next year. I wish Copp would come that cheap, but I don't see that happening unless there is a bidding war between Copp and Strome to stay with the team. They think Copp will get around $5.5M, but you never know. They also think that Motte would get closer to $2M. I know Zach Jones has offensive potential, but do you think he has that same potential on the defensive side of his game? LGR!!!

A few changes and staying under the cap
Supposed to be bridge deals for Kakko and Kravtsov. What contracts would you suggest? Both will need to get paid once they start scoring. Not sure how much it will take to bring back Motte, but I don't know if Rangers can afford $2.5M, I'd go as high as $1.85M. Panarin is a great player, but his contract is killing the team. I'm just not feeling the love yet for Zac Jones defensively. I eventually expect to see Miller and Schneider on a line together, so why not start building the chemistry now? I have no real reason to like Dryden Hunt, but they are committed to him and he's cheap and hopefully not a serious liability. Strategy for next year is to shore up the D in front of Shesty and let the kids develop another year with real minutes. Thanks for the questions/comments.

2022-23 Roll 4
Yeah, I see, if Batherson played a full season he could have 30G and 80P, but he's only played 40 games. If Joseph played a full season he could have 14G and 35P. Strome would only have 19G and 57P. Forgetting Strome for a minute, are there any assets on the Rangers that Ottawa would be interested in who are not on the roster?

2022-23 Roll 4
Yeah, I know, but it is possible, maybe not probable, that the NYR can sign him. I would love to keep Strome, but not sure it is feasible with the cap situation. I just wanted to see what Ottawa thinks Joseph is worth.

So if UFAs are signed, then you're OK with this. That's what I read, right?

Sabres_Insider, sorry for the confusion. By (listed), I was referring to the non-roster selections "listed" in the GM tool. I didn't mention Brett Berard as an untouchable because he is not "listed" in the GM tool as a non-roster player. Thanks for commenting.

Let the kids play Off the beaten track
HI, I had stated some assumptions in the Team Explanation: Here it is again: Assumes Lundqvist retires. Trouba, Lemieux, Howden traded. Staal, Smith traded or bought out. Details TBD. Pietrangelo mentors Miller and other young Ds. Kravtsov plays in KHL or is traded. I acknowledge that I have not identified trade partners, but I feel we have significant collateral that we could pull at least some of these trades off. Overlooked that Matt Roy was RD. Two LDs I really like are Jonas Brodin (Wild) or Vince Dunn (Bues). Does anyone know if we must offer 1st round 2021 pick for Nichushkin or if we can use our 2020 Carolina pick? Thanks.

I said it was off the beaten track. I really do like these players (Nichuskin, Nosek and Roy) better than who I am willing to give up to get them. I think Trouba is too expensive. Hopefully, I'm wrong, because we will probably keep him.

Kids need ice time Lets see if LF is a natural C 86 Trouba prior to NTC
Hi Detroit fan. We actually think very highly of Georgiev and Howden (27th overall pick). If we didn't have Shesterkin, Georgiev would be our starter. I personally love the way he plays. Lias Andersson (7th overall pick) was just a throw in and hopefully someone can talk some sense into this kid. Agree, Trouba is too rich for us, but for a team that has some cap space, he was a 9th overall pick and he can play big and tough with a heavy shot. We need to free up some cap space and we have too many prospects coming up and can't keep all of these good players. Detroit would also be getting what is probably a 10th or 11th overall pick. That's only moving back 6 or 7 spots - assuming we don't win the lottery tonight. :)

Fast still has some good years left and he is the heart and soul of the team and he deserves it. We'll have plenty of cap once Lundqvist, Staal and Smith are gone to pay Zibanejad.

Neglected to press submit for Detroit trade before. Now it looks like I want it. :)
