D still sucks tho... Dermott is not a top 4, Holl is not a top 6 IMO, and Lehtonen is a total question mark.

Why would pits do this trade though? Murray would be cheaper and is younger. Plus they would only look to trade Murray if the intended to give the reigns to Jarry.

I still toyed around with the Weegar idea but decided to keep Holl. For flashes this year, Holl was our best d man so I feel giving him another chance could work well. Dermott I felt played great in the playoffs and needs to play a bit of a higher roll to take a step forward in his development. As for Lehtonen, he was the best DMan in the KHL so I have faith

I more picture it as a 3 team trade, where Pittsburgh would move to a team that needs a starting goalie (since they kind of want to go with the Jarry Desmith Option). Murray I feel is someone who could fill Andersen’s role in Toronto because of that age factor and being cheaper.

The sabres tried to call his Bluff and blew it, but Pilut can still be an alright dman if developed properly (he also has an NHL out clause I do believe). This trade was more of a cap dump than anything.

He brings little value if at all but I just wanted to move him out for something. He could be alright if he gets a change of scenery

His contract has an NHL out, he just doesn't want to play for the Sabres. If his rights are traded, he likely comes back.

Murray gives you a younger cheaper goalie with term. Freddy is up next year and will want a raise. Murray only really had a bad year this year but has been a pretty good goalie career wise and in the playoffs.
