PIT highly values marino and views him as Letang's replacement. Nylander wouldn't fit PIT's system and Dermott is not needed. ZAR is an incredible defensive forward and part of our shutdown line. Rust is on a great contract with his breakout year meshing with Malkin. the value may be there but not for PIT.

I do like the value a lot (especially Dermott), I worked for Otters and watched him grow through Juniors. Nylander would help Malkin IMO and Liljgren could be another good TWD. Rust is meshing well, but it has only been 1 1/2 seasons he has had that production and tough to see if he can withstand that form long-term. My only problem would be getting rid of Marino (good and on cheap contract). Losing ZAR won't be as big of a loss as it looks. We have a lot of guys in AHL that can do his work on bottom six. RE: Marino, the entire league knows that Toronto are hurting for salary relief and Pittsburgh could get away with giving less if giving Marino and taking Nylander contract fully.

Marino, Rust, Reese, 1st for Nylander, Dermott, Liljegren, 2nd

You could take the 1st out and Pittsburgh still says no, value wise.

Plus, Pittsburgh can't add Nylander's cap hit.

The moment you add both Marino AND the number 15 pick going the other way is the moment GMJR just starts laughing. Then asks if your serious, starts laughing again and then ends the call. Nylander would be a great add to the top 6 but the biggest thing this team needs to help fix itself (on the Pittsburgh end) is help on the back end. Subtracting Marino who is quite possibly our replacement for Letang is only adding even more issues to be replaced on the back end. You want Marino and a number 1 AND Rust? Your taking Johnson and Bjugstad and bringing us back at least a 2 and 3.

TOR fans over valuing their player again.

PS, the penguins don't want to be in TOR current situation with no defense. We'll keep Marino.

Pens can't afford this trade. 10 mil for 5. Leafs would have to take some salary back, Bjugstad? Johnson? Hornqvist?

Crosby wouldn't like Nylander, not enough compete, so it wouldnt work. I think Pens would do that package for Marner + a right handed Dman of your choice
