Description
I know the trades need work, but if Billy G did put this together, I would be ecstatic.
I really don't see Dubas moving Nylander, the only possible reason is for cap space and that's because his guys with bigger cap hits will be harder to move. I also think Toronto should want Brodin over Dumba but don't think Dubas is wired that way.
Sorry Rangers fans but Greenway and a 3rd is more than fair for a 3rd string goalie with a limited sample size.

we aren't taking Pavelski for free

there has to be some other assets coming back (prospects) if we're rebuilding or some serious retention if we're still trying to compete

you are right, Dubas would be stupid to trade Nylander. By far his best contract so far and it would also be an overpay

I figured you guys would be all for putting the band back together. He is retained it would be 5 mil a year.

oh yeah didn't notice you traded for him with retention, my bad. That's definitely better but I still don't think it's enough. I mean he wasn't even on pace for 40 points this season and he's pretty old. I definitely think he'd do better point wise in San Jose but I don't think he would be able to get around 50 points for 2 more consecutive seasons. I highly doubt you guys want to retain more than 2 million so for this deal to work you would probably have to give us a decent player/prospect.

using gaa for goalies not smart, there are better ways to assess goaltenders. As a Rangers fan, I can proudly say that Georgiev is an excellent goalie. He gets inconsistent at times, but that is partially due to a weird starting pattern, and also because he plays behind the worst defense in the league.

Forgot we were still playing hockey in the 80's I'll go get some 6-4 defenseman.

Really like the look of this team, this would be an ideal offseason for me. The only thing I don't like is how many picks were traded away, were left in a tough spot with only 2 picks in the first 3 rounds this year and next.

Here's what I'm thinking instead: make the Zucc for Turris swap. I see no reason why either team wouldn't do that trade, it makes so much sense on so many levels. Then, I'd move Staal for picks this offseason. I love the guy and he'll always have a soft spot in my Wild Fandom heart but he didn't look great during the play-in and I think his age is catching up to him. Replacing him with Turris gives a younger right shot guy who's looking to bounce back and revive his career.

I thought about the Turris deal but thought better of it when looking at future cap space, plus don't want him blocking Khovanov when he is ready.
The loss of draft picks is unfortunate not to say Wild couldn't recoup some of them in deadline deals, but yeah it would be better to not lose them, most of them are lost in the Cirelli deal something I deem worthy of draft picks.
Staal should be better in a reduced role atleast for a year or 2.
