PHI
  1. Gaudreau, Johnny
Additional Details:
Why Calgary does this: After being unable to move him the year before and not being able to negotiate an extension, Gaudreaus NTC kicks in leaving their trade options limited. After being able to negotiate an extension with Philly, Calgary gets back a solid replacement in Giroux, a long term piece for their blue line, and a high draft pick
CGY
  1. Giroux, Claude
  2. Sanheim, Travis
  3. 2021 1st round pick (PHI)
Additional Details:
Why Philly does this: Giroux will be a bit older at this point and would cost a considerable amount of money to extend for declining production. Sanheim would simply be the casualty of having tons of young players like York and Zamula ready to come up in the pipeline. Gaudreau is much younger and would love to play for Philly, and it would be hard for Philly to pass up on the opportunity to bring him in

That would be an insidious overpayment for a guy we could theoretically wait to hit free agency a year later. Konecny is cheaper younger locked up longer has a physical edge to his game and literally outscored Gaudreau this season. Adding Frost would just be overkill to the extreme

I wish we could get that package. Maybe before the 2019/20 season it might have been possible. Now it would be hard to get just Konecny alone I'm thinking.

Can't wait intil Gaudreau becomes extended with 10+ million for 8 years with a NMC cause he has a great year and Everyone offer sheets Patrick and Lindblom the next year cause they both have a great year and want long term contract with real money

Don't think right now Gadreau would get that much. I would think given his average production at 8 years accounting for a slight discount to play in Philly he would sign for 8.5-9ish million AAV, which would give Philly enough money to match any offer sheet on Lindblom and Patrick, hence the entire premise behind this

he still will have a NMC thought, plus who are you going to sign on D when Lindblom and Patrick do sign with Philly on contracts like 7*7M each

Lindblom is great but I would highly doubt he will end up being a 9 million AAV player. Patrick has the potential to be, but he is too far from that now to account for that.

Much more likely, they're both young guys with rough health issues in the past though so it'll be a bit of a waiting game

I understand why you're doing this but realistically I think the timing of the giroux and couturier ending together is so that they are basically able to swap contracts G will be 34 I can't see him asking for a raise at that point and Couturier probably gets around 9m purely because of the flat cap for the next two years

If Couturier were to make 9 million AAV I would never move him, I did this because I expect him to make roughly 11 million even with the flat cap

I think he's the type to take less to stay in Philly especially if they're a contender I also find it hard to believe that any team is going to start handing out 11m AAV besides Toronto I think at most he would get 10m
