Description
I'm not sure how realistic my trades are. I realize that fans from both sides will be against any/all of them.

The Duchesne trade was in order to get rid of $8 million of cap space for a player in my opinion isn't living up to his contract. I wanted to get more players for that cap space. I always like Bennett for the reason that his game always elevates for the playoffs. Regular season is another story but I'm willing to go with him on the team. Mangiapane and Dube are slowly but surely becoming middle six forwards/wingers. The first round pick may be a bit too much am I would be willing to go a second or third to make this work.
As for Calgary, getting Duchesne will give them 3 strong centers for the next couple of years to make a stronger cup run.

With the Arizona deal, I took two players that really aren't part of the Coyotes future plans so that they can sign Hall long term. I feel very comfortable with Raanta and Stepan as a backup and a second line center. The team is only committed to one year each and I am hoping that they take the initiative to have solid seasons in a contract year.

The Buffalo trade was an exchange of bad contract with Nashville getting a little bit more because Turris (imo) is the best player of the group and may still be able to give the 2C that Buffalo seems to crave. With the two players I received, Hutton and Johansson, I immediately bought both of them out. I picked these two contracts because they were one year each. As for Rinne, if he doesn't agree to the trade, then I would take both goalies out and go with rest of the trade. I would then proceed to buy Rinne out. Some fans may not like that but it's needed.

As for my signings of Beaulieu and Shattenkirk, I signed them both because I think they should make a decent third pairing, they came cheap short term contracts and let the farm team develop the d-men a little further.

One of the reasons why I picked Nashville to GM is because I'm not a fan, nor do I hate, the team. I tried to look at the team as logically possible and take the first steps to make the them stronger.

Let me know what you think of this and what you would do differently. Thanks.

Calgary doesn’t want Duchene lol, especially not for 3 of our best young forwards and a 1st. They don’t want the player, they especially don’t want the contract, and there’s absolutely no way they’re giving up those pieces

Shatty’s probably earned a bit more money than that tbh

Why is Arizona paying you to take a serviceable forward and a good goalie

BUF should get paid more to take Turris. His contract is one of the most horrendous I’ve ever seen

Okay. I agree with the Calgary trade. Shatty probably won't get that much more because of the flat cap. I did the Arizona trade under the assumption that they want Hall and needed to clear cap space.

No. There are many other contracts much worse than Turris but your point is valid and well taken.

I don't know really. Take out Mangi and Dube, replace them with Pelletier and change the 1st to a 2nd. Probably not what you want to hear though haha

Duchene is a useful player for sure, but he's no bargain at $8 million AAV and is 6 months from turning 30. I'd rather have Johansen on the Flames to be honest, same type of package.

I really like Manipane and Dube a lot. Would Calgary be willing to give up one of them (your choice) with Bennett for Duchesne at $6 million per year with Nashville eating the other $2 million?

Bennett
Mangiapane/Dube

for

Duchene ($2,000,000 retained)

??

I'd probably do that to be honest. Proooobably let Mangiapane go before Dube.

That deal works for me. Mangiapane and Bennett for Duchesne at $6 million per.

Unfortunately I don't have too much cap space to give up or I would go $4 million (50% retained) for a better deal.

I think both players have a pretty good ceiling that can be achieved still. Try telling that to anyone out side of Calgary that and they will look at you as if you are crazy. I honestly believe that they are solid middle six forwards on a contending team when every thing is said and done.

Sabres pass. No interest in taking the higher cap numbers and term and then giving up the higher pick for the privilege of doing it.

No. I wanted to take a team that I had no vested interest in and see what I could do. The Calgary trade I knew before going in that it was iffy at best.

The Arizona trade I still stand by IF the Coyotes are trying to sign Hall. I might have to drop their 2nd though and give a conditional 3rd pick that can slide up with certain conditions met (advancing past the 1st and 2nd rounds with both players playing x amount games, etc.).

The Buffalo trade I can see it clearly sided to Nashville. I thought Turris was better than he was. I realize now that he would have to complete a comeback season or two to have any real value. I would like to dump Turris with a small add from my side other wise I will keep him on the 2nd line and expose him in the expansion draft and hope for the best.
