Description
This is probably the worst site to post ideas, everyone likes to just hate and spout their own opinions off as if they should be GM. newsflash we are not, These trades of course would need tinkering to meet what gms expect. As for my lineup is is based on improving depth and defense while clearing cap at the same time. Reality acquiring a top right handed d for marner or nylander or anyone else not named Matthews is easier said than done. Maybe Dubas has something but I doubt it. After this year we will clear 6 million in cap plus have draft capital and Pulujarvi to see if can develop into a decent top 6 winger or best a top 9 winger.

This would make Adam Larsson a legend by being part of two of the worst trades in modern day history.

I like how everyone on this site goes straight to judging. It is time to sink into some reality... Jones for Johansens are extremely rare. Add the fact that a good amount of teams are flush with left defensemen and not right defensemen makes it difficult. A certain defenseman from St Louis is a pipe dream unless we remove half our core depth of forwards. If we trade a forward, that means less depth at forward. Robertson is not Nylander yet and no proof he will but he does look good. All teams need passers not just scorers. Centers are often skilled at both, it so happens we have two shooters for our centers so who passes them the pucks? This is trade by overall look is bad because Larsson is worse than Nylander no argument but a much better trade that Larsson for Hall. Larsson is a UFA! in one year, same is Chiasson. That means next year we have over 6 million in cap space to resign Hyman and look at better much better defensive depth. What do we get for the cleared space and trade a good young skilled player draft capital and Puljujarvi who can still easily develop into a top 6 or top 9 winger. Heck want to make the trade better see if you can convince Holland for a clause that turns the 3rd into a 1st if Nylander scores over a PPG average. Reality is Risto is declining big time, Pesce and Hamilton are too needed in Carolina. Carolina's remaining d are most lefties. Anahiem has little after Manson so need him. Guerin recognizes that the wilds strength lies with Dumba and Spurgeon who does that leave us with? I would like to know where this Top 2 right handed defenseman is for nylander or marner?

Glad to know you can do better than everyone on this site yet has 0 ideas. Where is this top defenseman? where? I did admit that it is more for clearing cap than getting top dman. The capp will still be the same next year and if we trade nylander for these defensemen or sign that St louis defenseman then we lose Hyman and much more next year. Who is going to replace the forwards gone Nylander, Johnsson will need to be traded for that special ufa. Hyman gone next year, Andersson gone. Creating a team is more than one year but foretelling the future. I am not a GM, and this proves it no argument but at least I am trying to think about next year and beyond.

This touchy rant doesn't make your trade suck less

I’m not going to be as hard on this as others. Think leafs nation needs to get head out of their butt are realize you have to give to get. I think it’s reasonably fair not really big fan of it from oilers perspective but unlike leafs fans I actually do watch larsson play and very much value him as a significant top 4 d I’m not sold the blueline can afford to give up. Including JP is a massive part that I’d much rather see him given another opportunity in Edmonton first.

I doubt Nylander moves, but his value is more than the return in this trade. Not sure Poolparty fits the Leafs vision and moving Willy for anything less than a true #1 isn't making the team better. Think Willy plus for Hamilton, or Willy for a Dumba or Subban + (have seen this rumoured). And if he moves, the trickle down to replace the 2RW happens, which isn't as easy as people want go believe.
