God no from Pittsburgh. Phaneufs contract is awful and Malkins value is way more than that.

Gee, maybe the Leafs should offer the equivalent (the pieces in the Phanuef/Ottawa/Leaf trade) for Malkin. Malkin for Cowan, Michalek,Greening, 2 second rounders.....and Bozak

sounds pretty good, except you forgot Tobias Lindberg, and that bozak and turris are at completely different levels

I had Lindberg as one of the second rounders. You are correct, Turris is better than Bozak.

Malkins contract pays him $9.5m plus a $5m sign bonus in the final 2 years for a payout of $14.5m for age 35&36 yr old Malkin who already misses 15-20 games every year with some type of injury. Ottawa is broke!

This would be the single worst deal the Penguins have ever made. Lose an elite top 5 center for a guy who has some talent but absolutely no consistency and a guy whose presence will actually make the defense significantly worse. All while taking on more salary!
