1. Last night was the first time I watched a playoff win from the blackhawks and had absolutely no fun during or after the game. We were supposed to come out with our best in an elimination game and I really can't think of a worse game from the skaters on the ice all season. We should not have won that game, and we are likely just prolonging the deathmarch to Tuesday. (side note, thank God it's a 9:30 so most people will be sleeping)

2. In relation to the last point, I just want to say that 5v5 felt like a PK, and when we were on a PP it felt like watching an even strength game. Absolutely terrible performance from everyone except Crawford. JC’s system of Dump and chase does not work if you are only icing it, giving it directly to the other team, or not even trying to retrieve it once you put it in deep.

3. Olli Maatta is our best LHD for this playoffs, and it isn't even close. I know De Hann and Keith have been anchored to babysit Boqvist, but I have seen too many soft passes turn into give aways from De Hann, and Keith has been on the ice for so many goals its insane.

4. The pairing of Koekkoek-Maatta should be given more ice time than any pair with Boqvist on it. He's been absolutely horrendous and I don't think he is one of the 6 best defenseman we have.

5. The forwards have been absolutely terrible this entire series. It seems like the cannot score unless A. They are on a line with Patrick Kane, or B. the defense is active in the play and takes a shot for a deflection, or jump up behind the goalie and pass out in front of the net (See defensive D-man Maatta on caggulias goal.)

6. Having Sikura in for Nylander (or Hagel if you prefer) for last nights game would have changed absolutely nothing about how it played out. Nylander was benched for most of the last two periods, and the hawks still got dominated.

7.The hawks need to keep Boqvist and Nylander in game 5 because they are the future, and 25 year old Dylan sikura is not. If you want to swap him in for one of the other useless forwards on the team I suggest Caggulia. I don't care if he scored a goal yesterday he does nothing else on the ice to justify himself. I haven't seen him hitting much, his is holding down the Dach and Kane line, and has been outplayed consistently throughout the playoffs.

8. The Toews line has been terrible for two straight games. It was time to switch to Kane and Kubs on the same line in game 3. Let's not leave it that way.

Maatta's 4th on the team in points this playoffs. People don't realize how well he's actually fit on this team. They're a methodical 2-way team which was NOT PIT. Maatta's pretty dang good in this kind of system. You're 100% correct about Maatta and Slater getting more ice time. They've been good!

Boqvist just doesn't look physically mature enough for playoff hockey in my mind. He's been getting hit hard and he's been looking to dodge hits vs play the puck. He just needs to bulk up a bit in the offseason. I'd let Carlsson get another game in under hits belt. Still not worried about Boqvist at all though.

I have a similar thought on the forwards too. Nylander isn't making good decisions. I think he needs to sit this next game and watch. No shame either in that either. He's a rookie learning just like Boqvist. Let Hagel get some ice time. Hagel has more speed and grit too. That seems to be working with Highmore/Kampf/Carpy too.

I would like to clarify that I am also not worried about Boqvist, but if we're trying to win he can't be on the ice.

Spot one with everything Stan. I 100% agree. Only thing I'll add is that if the hawks want to try to win the series (they won't win but I'll stay hopeful) then Boqvist should be benched for game 5. He has been bad. If they know they aernt gonna win then play Boqvist because like you said he's the future. It's a question of whether you want to get playoff experience for the kids or if you want to put the best lineup on the ice to try to win the game. Boqvist just needs to put some muscle on this off season and he'll be fine, but that's not gonna happen overnight. Carlson didn't have a great game 3, but IMO he gives us a better chance to win than Boqvist does

This is very true and in line with my reply to Exo.

Agree with everything you said, especially maatta and less impressed with De Haan as such. He's a good defender especially around the net, but too slow when the play moves up the ice or along the boards in the D zone. I'm now of the mindsight to trade De Haan and keep Maatta given the system of man D.

Regarding Nylander, it's not that benching him changes the outcomes it's that when he's on the ice he simply is not producing. 8 games and 0 points, 11 shots on net, is simply not acceptable from any winger with the exception of a 4th liner which i like Nylander for that role until he learns to be quicker in his decision making and isn't afraid to shoot the puck instead of passing constantly.

The only nitpick that I will make for this lineup is that unless you think that playing Nylander is "helping" him "develop" he should be benched instead of Caggiula. While Caggiula's metrics aren't great, he's still outperformed Nylander all over the ice.

Another thing, while Highmore has been playing well and deserves more ice time, I still think having Caggiula on the 3rd line with Debrincat and Strome would work better for the team results-wise.

Ultimately, I see this being pointless if Crawford doesn't continue to stand on his head.
